I don't believe in any war, goes against my religious, moral and ethical beliefs. But as long as America chooses this aggressive foreign policy, then Yes women NEED to be subjected to same exact law as men. It makes no sense otherwise. A life is a life, a limb is a limb. I am from Germany- I had to do compulsory military service in the 1960's- women had to do a National Service called Civilian Service- where they work in old-person homes, train as nurses, work as care-givers and do things the women excel and are better at than males.
It's unequal either way. Drafting men and not women means depriving men in their rights but not women. Drafting both men and women means putting women in support roles while men are forced to do the actual fighting.

I am not seeing the point you are trying to make. They would still ideally have the same bench mark to join the armed forces. If true equality was there, then everyone wishing to serve would be held to the same standard. So it is irrelevant whether females in general are or aren't weaker. This is all about the skills of the individual choosing to try and serve.

According to my history teacher in middle school who was in the army, the reason why women are not allowed in infantry, i.e. direct combat, is because they get more "emotional." I'm a boyish female and I think they should be able to if they wish (there are some RARE exceptions they do let in) but most women are "conditioned" to be emotional and I can see how that can be bad for combat.
what about the young men that would their lives at risk IF it came to a draft? I have four brother and two sisters, two of of my brothers are in the Marines Corps. My oldest brother, and my sister, who is 17, and myself all do not plan on serving in military but would gladly serve if the country came to the draft, with men and women having to register.

The only problem I have with women having to sign up for the draft is the rape/sexual assault issues for women in the military. Until this issue can be properly addressed, I'm not sure having women sign up for the draft is a great idea.

Bullshit, if women are equal they're equal, if they're not they're not. It just another version of separate but equal. You're in the army, but because you're a girl we'll have to treat you differently than the other solders, separate you from them, and you aren't eligible for the same positions as men either, even if your athletically capable of qualifying.

Please don't compare such things, being drafted into a war means months and months of pain, whereas pregnancy is only a few hours and, at the end, you have a baby for your efforts. War is horrid and painful and, at the end of it, all there is to show for it is wounds and death. War is something that shouldn't exist, it's a curse. Birth is something that is essential to our species, it's a blessing.

I am not seeing the point you are trying to make. They would still ideally have the same bench mark to join the armed forces. If true equality was there, then everyone wishing to serve would be held to the same standard. So it is irrelevant whether females in general are or aren't weaker. This is all about the skills of the individual choosing to try and serve.

People in our military seem to understand the difference, because they don't allow women to serve in front-line duties.
Gloria Steinem and others spread this myth that the sexes are "blank slates" whose development is steered along gender lines by toys, etc. Neurobiological research has proven that the male and female brains are very different on many levels. There are women who can fight on a man's level, but that's the exception to the rule.

Let me give you some examples. According to Michael Gurian, a noted neurobiologist and psychologist, a woman's brain has on average 15% more bloodflow and nearly ten times more white matter. That means the brain has a much harder time shutting down to allow the "fight-or-flight" response to kick in and reduces in greater mental strain. Not that women are less brave than men, but they are less adapted for situations where they need the primal brain functions, such as combat.

Then why is it in cultures like the !Kung that we see males and females acting vastly differently to how we act in our societies? That so many of our stereotypical images of males and females did not exist so strongly in the hunter gatherer era. A persons DNA plays a large role, but so do does the environment they are in. You seem to be undervaluing the effects of culture and socialisation.

No, but males are required to register for selective service when they turn 18. Meaning if there ever is a draft, they can be drafted. If you don't register, you don't qualify for student loans and stuff like that.

i think that people are forgetting that if we draqft all the young healthy women, who will have healthy babies??? when they come back how mentally stable are these future mothers going to be?? Regardless of financial status, there is no replacement of mothers in a society. Draft them, and American Society as we know it would collapse. According to my history teacher in middle school who was in the army, the reason why women are not allowed in infantry, i.e. direct combat, is because they get more "emotional." I'm a boyish female and I think they should be able to if they wish (there are some RARE exceptions they do let in) but most women are "conditioned" to be emotional and I can see how that can be bad for combat.
