The Methamercury levels and overall contaminate levels in small lakes and private ponds are droping all the time. if you have any doubt set a contained pond up for your family consumption. Know the local lakes and fishing holes go and get a local DNR book and look up the levels. The bottom line is always know your home surroundings and the bounty it has to offer. You should be utilizing it already so you know how when needed.

Good video. But in a SHTF situation, wouldn't a canoe with paddles be a much wiser choice, as you have to have a lot of fuel to run vehicles of any kind, in a long term situation. Also you can hear an outboard motor from quite a distance, which may attract some very hungry visitors.Thanks.

A question: I'm not a fisherman myself, but if I understand correctly, a circle hook is basically a hook where the widest part of the hook is at the curve rather than at the point. If so, would ancient Hawaiian style large-fish (namely ulua and mano) hooks classify as a circle hook?

Bowfin is some good eats. Do a Google search on bowfin recipes before you go out next time and maybe you will give them a try. If you don't like them all I can say is Just one more fish for me to enjoy. LoL

@TheKodiak72 Much appreciated. We just moved near by a river and several large streams running into it, so I need to learn to fish. My main interest is bass and bluegill though.

I've tried a bit with shiners and artificial baits but hardly no luck as of yet. Any good advice on catching bass? I could care less about being s sportsman ...I wanna catch and eat fresh fish for our health. Thanks my friends.
