In the english manga, they refered to kohaku as "she" and koryu as "He" despite his flirting with shuichiro. So based on her behavior and facial appearance and although "she's" genderless, I would think Kohaku is more comparable to a woman

@Metair I think that CLAMP demons are highly sexualized beings and can actually be identified by gender. Like Ruri and Hari that have completely developed femenine bodies, or the prominently masculine Kokuyo, although Kouryu is as androginous as Kohaku.

Angels, on the other hand, seem supposed to be pure and innocent, thus they lack any gender-distinguishing features (Although both Kohaku and Hisui look pretty masculine to me)

if you think about it. Angels and demons wouldn't be like humans, (born from a mother) so no bellybuttons, and if you keep that in mind, no need for breast, etc, etc... so well 'Technically' we will call all of the angels and demons 'it' since they have no real gender although we place genders upon them by the how they act.

Ashura from RG Veda is similar since 'it' is a a god, and the Mokonas also have no gender.

Clamp seems to really like having non gender characters.

Angels are born from eggs that sprout from a tree, and so they don't need reproductive organs, but you have to admit that, although femenine, they are prominently manly in appearance (At least more than the Kobato. anime made Kohaku seem)

Though honestly, 'it' would probably be the most correct term in describing Kohaku's gender, or lack thereof.

@latinlover929 There just never was any plans for it (darn!), The Ali Project is the group that made this video and wrote the songs. There's even a whole soundtrack for it (have it :) ))

I saw this and the one for Clover and was totoal stoked about a posible anime for them! Then I learn there wasn't. I loved the manga for Wish. It was really good. Yeah It would have been a short series if they made it, even a 2 or 3 part OVA or somthing. If I ever meet the ladys from CLAMP I will beg them to get them produced. It's neither yaoi, shounen-ai, or het.

none of the angels have gender. Some just happen to be more feminine and some just happen to be more masculine. Kohaku is more feminine. But she's neither male nor female (I refer to "her" as a female because calling something an "it" sounds degrading, and when it comes to Wish I generally refer to them as the gender they more closely resemble despite that I know they have no gender).

A good example of another genderless character created by CLAMP is Ashura of RG Veda and Nataku of X/1999, particularly the latter because Nataku was once in the manga suspended in a vat of fluid stripped naked and you could see the body structure.

I think it's important to remember that this story is by Clamp, a group that *clearly* tends towards shounen-ai, but never really gets around actually doing anything that can be described tecnically as such. It's in the eye of the beholder, and my prescription last time I got my eyes checked said 20/20 boyxboy

And even in Wish, I would say that at the very least; Koryuu and Kokuyo are clearly meant to be boys and they also have sex in the manga.
