There used to be so much capacity on that train. Its always busy during the summer and I think Amtrak should realy consider adding a second daily round trip between New York City and Chicago. Possibly have the train travel through Canada stopping in Hamilton, London and Detroit.
@furryfurball1221 Well the Amtrak P42DC's didn't arrive until 1996. Same with the Viewliners. Probably sometime between 1996 and 1999. I wish Amtrak trains still looked like this...
Very nice shot! I miss the 90s. Amtrak was just better then. Im planning to take the Lake Shore Limited this summer. 49 looks so much different now.

It got a little longer now that they're back to splitting the train in Albany (instead of making all the Boston folk transfer to a shuttle).
