And in my opinion they are twins. "Kagamine" literally means "Mirror sound" (Kagami = mirror 'ne' - Chinese reading, sound) and that means they could mirror each other vocally. Perhaps the voices were crafted from the same vocal sample? Anyways the fact that they appear often together, look alike and their voices sound somewhat the same probably comes from the fact that they are the "Mirroring sound" vocaloids. :)

@Gusoakhillz Well, the voices are computer generated by a program called Vocaloid. There is an English equivalent called Utauloid and it's free. With the live concert they are holograms projected onto a pane of glass. However, Gorillaz (a popular UK band) first utilized the holograms in their concerts. There are videos of this on YouTube. But if you haven't watch the actual live videos where they're moving. It's spectacular. I recommend Megurine Luka's "Just be Friends" live video.

Computers can't actually play without the help of a human. Computers can't actually compose their own songs either. By since you worked with composition programs, I'm not sure if they actually can. But we humans created the computer so I believe that that's something we can be proud of.
