  • in the section that has the [alert show] and [alert release], im getting two errors,

    "! 'release' is unavailable: not available in automatic reference counting mode

    and

    "! ARC forbids explicit message send of 'release'"

  • hahahahahaha it was a fart too, but serious im gonna try this out and hopefully get it to work...

  • LMAO 4:24 FARTTTT

  • Shit tutorial. When I tried connecting the enemy with the red ball, and the player with the grey ball, nothing happened. Such a great tutorial man, I congratulate you.

  • "Receiver Type 'View Controller' for instance message does not declare a method with selector 'checkCollision'.....

    Keep getting this error?

    Any Help? Thanks.

  • @IYIrIYIax

    You need to call it in your view controller

    @interface ViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UIButton *startbutton; NSTimer * randomMain; CGPoint pos; IBOutlet UIImageView *player; IBOutlet UIImageView *enemy;

    } -(IBAction) start;

    -(void) checkCollision;

  • @IYIrIYIax just move the 'checkCollision' method above the 'onTimer' method, then it should work.

  • i am getting message does not declare a method with selector 'checkCollision' and alert release isn't allowed for some reason. can u help plz?

  • @pecololek objective-c

  • @pecololek objective c

  • This didn't help me at all... Not saying that you're bad, because you are obviously a really good programmer, but get some brains and think about who's going to be viewing this. -.- Great video though for someone who understands it!

  • Im thinking about buying iOS SDK and getting started myself, what kind of 'code' are you using when making iPhone Apps? PHP,CSS, or..? Also how big of a difference is it to develop apps using Windows instead of Mac OS?

  • @bfolkrod uiimageview as a background and there you have it!

  • hi, i have followed your instructions but i have a label which counts up which is the score. how would i stop it when it collides and reset it so it is ready?

    thanks rafee

  • what's the programming language?

  • @cuberegister,it gives me like 100 errors

  • @bestgamer6661 you have obviously done it wrong then!

  • Could you make a tutorial that shows "you've been hit you time is...) and after says want to upload this picture to Facebook

  • Great video! Very informative and easy to follow! I did this with xcode 4.2 and iOS 5 for iphone. Works great except the ball positions do not reset once you lose and dismiss. Is there a way to do this?

  • Is there an actual app like this? it seems fun haha

  • Hi, I have checked the code several times, and I get ......may not respond to '-checkCollision' along side the [self checkCollision]; statement.

    Any Ideas? I am using iOS 10.6.6

  • Nice Video!

  • hey could you send me the code i got 4 warnings and 7 errors

  • Thanks, very helpful in getting started.

  • can u send me the code pls :D :D

  • Nice tutorial... except that if a person has come so far, I really don't think you should spend time on things such as "don't put a semicolon in the middle of your IF clause".

  • How did you learn how to program? I pretty much don't know anything and would like to.

  • I keep getting a "SIGABRT" error on the "-(void)onTimer" Method. It shows it on the " [self checkCollision];" I need help. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!! Thanks

  • I tried to build this but i got tons of errors. Can you send me the code?

    thanks

  • i build and go and it just keeps saying "dismiss" then goes away for like .25 seconds then reappears and it never works. this happens when i click begin. i have connected everything in IB too

  • Thanks, really helpful vid.

  • Helpful video, thanks. But there's really no need to read whole sections of code to us. It is clear enough if you put it in full-screen mode, and also people can pause it if they need to type things in. Just explain the concepts! :)

  • Hey dude can I get the source code

  • Can you please send me the source code. Thanks for the tutorial its awesome, i even bought roller baller 2!!!!

  • hey your screen is gigantic!!!! what is it? 32 inches??

  • Comment removed

  • hey dude how do you add another ball?

  • do you have any recommendations for books on game programming for the iphone? I am reading one, but it is a little tough because it seems to lack in explaining what is going on in the process. It seems like when i follow along with tutorials on here, i get different results then they get. Not sure if it is version differences in xcode or not.

    love the video, keep them coming, i seem to learn more from youtube videos then books.

  • you have itunes appstore link ? i will purchase some! your vid helps me a lot.

  • Thanks!!

  • The basis of a game engine: Game game; while(game.isRunning()) { game.handleEvents(); game.Update(); game.Draw(); }

  • how would you go about having the enemy ball gradually get faster?

  • @scarthinator Put the speed as variables and in the timer function put an integer variable that adds 1 always the function is called, then you ( in the end of the timer ) you check if the integer variable is five, if it is, you adds 1 to the speed of the ball ( x and y ) and sets the integer variable to 0 again, if it is not, you do nothing.

  • Very nice. I'm still a "beginner" as far as coding goes. Your Xcode videos are quite informative.
