  • What's the Differance between an echidna and a police car? With the police car the pricks are on the inside! LOL!!!

  • @TheWicksy1971 Olol, nice one

  • The echidna is about as related to a hedghog as you are

  • Its really a sad thing there endangered

  • @VinnStudios

Then again, what native Australian animals aren't endangered, apart from kangaroos?

  • @HostOfThousands good point

  • Echidnas have been called a "primitive" mammal but studies have shown they are amazingly intelligent.

  • hay um do hedgehogs and ecidnas realy fight like in sonic x and stuff ? just asking

  • beautiful creature

  • Echidnas are the most fascinating animals I've ever seen.

  • they walk so funny :>

  • knuckles

  • Why the heck does every echidna video have a lot of people talking about "Knucles"?

Screw knucles, this is real life.

  • he needs to be red, with gloves!

  • He forgot his spiky gloves.

  • My thoughts exactly.

  • im aussie and i don't get wats up with the spiky gloves

  • Me either; I guess he's unique like that. Anyway....wow - I get a thumbs down for my other comments?! Well, look, kids who love to play with the rating feature: Knuckles IS an Echidna. If you didn't get that simple pun, then you need to thumbs down yourself for being a dumb ass.

  • no i mean what are"spiky gloves"

  • Well, the other guy was talking about them, but he was referring to Knuckles the echidna.

  • he's talking about 'Knuckles' - a side-kick character from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game

  • I know that; the others who gave me thumbs down don't. Tell them that. That's exactly what I was saying.

  • hedgehog

  • tastes like chicken!

  • Porky-pines (porcupines) are rodents and as closely related to echidnas as dolphins, lions or sperm whales.

Same thing with the ant- eater. When classifying mammals, taxonomists look at three sub-classes (simplified):

Placentals (give birth to developed young; i.e. cats, dogs, whales, seals,...)

Monotremes (lay eggs; echidnas and platypus)

Marsupials (only partially developed young; i.e. koalas, kangaroos, possums, quolls, wombats, numbats, ...).

    Sub-classes are further divided.

  • thanx linds, i learned something!

  • his name is bruce... and we love him ...found him while camping :D

  • Here in the states, we call them porky-pines. Although they have longer snouts compaired to ours. The Austrailian 1s are really cooling looking.

  • Is it a relative of the ant eater?

  • no, it lays eggs and suckles its babies, its closest relative, besides the other types of echidnas is the platypus,
