A culture includes tradition, family values, food, religion-everything of a man's meta conscious knowledge. In that sense hindu religion is a part of the Bengali culture in your west bengali and Islam is a part of the Bengali culture in Bangladesh. Hence there'd be some significant difference between West Bengal's Bengali culture and Bangladeshi Bengali culture. It was British politics and long before 1947, around 1905 at the time of Kurzon's Bengal partition, the division between hindu and muslim started based economy and politics of greater Bengal, not religion. Hindu landlords of Kolkata, including our famous Rabindranath didnt want Kolkata to lose any economic benefit to Dhaka and Muslim Bengalis and nawab in Dhaka wanted the division for economic prosperity
