This Discovery Channel segment is made-for-TV fraud, as is the alleged Canada Geese feather recovered from the left engine with five other fragments. not nearly enough air would get into the engine, because most of the air getting into the engine is the air that's getting "run" into it, not sucked into it.

Don't give me thumbs down. What do you know about engineering anyway? I say a durable net with small grain could work, slow down the invasion until the engine is cut off or slice the bird into dust before hitting the engine.

It has been tried in the past and it just causes too much drag. The air flow into the engine is critical to the thrust and any impediment would burn a lot more fuel to keep your airspeed and work the engine too hard.
