  • Shouldn't a movie be made to introduce him to others? I'm sure it would be award winning, but I guess the answer to that one is either not enough information about him or simply not wanting to risk putting too much money into it or something. I know it's a high gamble, but it can be done.

  • Jim Thorpe is my great-grandfather.

  • Jim Thorpe is my great-grandfather.

  • lol@ drop kicking the catcher in the chest.

  • jim thorpe rocks

  • he also played basketball in the wfi (world famous indians) !!

  • Amazing! I never heard of or ever watched this clip before. Thanx for posting it.

Ah, the Internet is truly amazing.

  • it just sucks cause the manager McGraw of new york at the time barely played him because he was a native american AND that he thought he sucked but thorpe was a great hitter and just couldnt hit the curve balls. in 1912 thorpe got his olympic medals taken away too.

  • @athleteman12 McGraw may have indeed been biased but it is probably not fair to say he didn't play him

simply because he was Indian. The Giants were a loaded team at and one of the best teams in baseball. In

truth McGraw did not need Thorpe. Both had very strong personalities and never got along. Thorpe would

have been better to sign with another team.

  • If Buster had still had his own studio he'd have given Jim full time work. Buster loved to hire baseball players to work on his crew because he loved having somebody to play with to break the creative blocks he and his team would get sometimes.

  • and he was HB for the Giants

  • jim thorp is my great grandmothers 1st cousin or something like that

  • I am so bored I got drunk by myself what was I thinking lol

  • He was 48 years of age at the time of this film?

  • Well Done!

  • Come visit Jim Thorpe, PA and visit his grave. And find the whole story on how and why a town would change it's name over someone it had nothing to do with, just to claim his gravesite.

  • i read his book you idiot his carear ended when he died on the feild with the jets

  • 2:41 and 3:04 lol

  • thorpe lived later in his life (and eventually died) right near my house in the town of lomita, just outside of L.A.

    R.I.P. Thorpe and Keaton.

  • Nicely done.

  • thanks for this great video. very informative and Thorpe and Keaton! WOW--- What a team-up of 2 personalities from a time long ago. Great job!

  • Great Combo- Perhaps the funnnest man + the Best Athlete ever! You don't mention that his Olympic medals were taken away from him for playing pro ball! Great Clip!!

  • 2 greats in one clip! thank you

  • It's a down right shame how Jim Thorpe was treated by his people.By his people I mean Americans. This guy was the Michael Jordan of his day.I'm not Irish American or German American I'm just American. Racism sucks. If a person works ,takes care of his or her family basically a good human being then I respect that person, male, female ,whatever color of skin.My brother is a sorry as they come.I won't even let him in my home.Racism .....bad...

  • Jim Thorpe was my Grandmother's cousin, the us government took away from him the metals he rightfully earned. They took away the glory and pride from his life...my Grandmother would identify his body in a trailer in Lomita...His greatness lives on - a truth that wasn't stolen...

  • Buster Keaton gave employment to at least one other Native American...his special effects man Fred Gabouri was, I believe, a Seneca.

According to his sister, the Keaton family was also part Native American. (Buster probably hired for talent, regardless of background).

  • My dad and friends met Thorpe in the late 30's outside a beer hall in central Oklahoma.

He was feeling no pain, but was courteous to his young fans. A great moment for my dad. He loved Thorpe.

  • Thorpe and Keaton's greatness will be appreciated a lot longer than ESPN.

  • Jim Thorpe gets my vote for the greatest athlete of all time.

  • Was that Dodger Stadium!

    * Jim Thorpe All-American *

  • Jim Thorpe, first President of Pro-football

  • buster keaton rocks I never saw this before I wish it had the whole thing

  • Great video, but are there any other videos of Thorpe in existence? Especially in athletic competitions.

  • ESPN has the gall to rank Jim No. 7 of all-time so there will be fewer videos of him as a result.

The Decathalon is the hardest thing to do; Jim was not only the best at that but the best football player of all-time. And could also play some baseball.

For all this he got Number 7.

  • i wish there was ther has to be somewere. hes the best athlete our world has ever known FACT

  • kid speaks the true.

  • Thank you so much for this! Jim Thorpe is the greatest!

  • jim thorpe is the greatest ever, and that includes michael jordan, babe ruth, and everyone else. when he completed in the 1912 olympics, he wasn't even considered a citizen of the US.another injustice the the american indian.

  • So true. "Thanks, King!"

  • your dam right thorpe best athlete ever by far. he WAS THE KING NO ONE will everr top what he has done no one

  • your dam right thorpe best athlete ever by far. he WAS THE KING NO ONE will everr top what he has done no one
