@bigrig587 Not really. Most trucks have the biggest and strongest Allison tranny available and in some cases the biggest engine, mostly Detroit. Also from what Ive heard the fire service specd engines dont have all the extra EPA stuff so they can get maximum power.
Hello Down East! Oh man, that is a looooong way to go to get water!! Did all those other eight or nine tankers make 9 runs too? Amazing how far ahead of you people are already pulled over, not waiting for you to get right on top of them.
Hey rykemember....Im a firefighter/Medic in North Western Maine and for the most part people actually do pull over for us. And York I love the video footage...But it also shows we meed beeter, more powerful tankers. Were great for the water supply but it takes us a while to get up to speed. LOL!
This video sets a good example on what people should do when a emergency vehicle is coming!! btw what kind of siren are you running? Sounds like it's from the late 80s to early 90s.
It's just my opinion, but I've seen other videos on Youtube where the firefighters were laying on the air horn for much less traffic. Also, here, the driver switched from Wail to Yelp when necessary, started to slow down way before he had to turn, didn't turn on two wheels, didn't drive aggressively, etc.
Well, I'm sure while sitting in traffic, these people were passed close to 10 or 12 times by passing tank trucks...but people are generally good about pulling over in Southern Maine for some reason...can't complain
That has to be the "best traffic consideration" I have ever seen. Congrats to all those drivers that respected the FD in that area the way they do. 5/5 on the video. Nice response driving.
People in the north respect the Fire Department unlike ass holes in the south who just pull out in front of people because there back woods morons, I live in Philly and Jersey and everyone gets over even for Amber lights it just shows how people in the North are brought up.
@nyfireman911 Really lol? This is STANDARD in New England among states such as Vermont, Maine and especially New Hampshire.... except for Massachusetts, there some real idiots down there.
@kurnellampdwarf YAH there is, i'm on a volly dept here in Western Mass and no body pulls over some dont even slow down. Useally when i'm driving it's siren on all the time and laying on the air horns when theres cars comming twords me. Wish people would pul over it would make tit easier on the narrow roads.
@YorkEngine4 i never have understood why maine fire departments while they have their emergency lights on but the do not always run the siren. then though i started my fire and ems career here in maine, but ended up out in kansas and missouri fighting out there and it is the state law that if your lights are on then the siren has to be. the same thing goes for us volly's who are responding in our pov's to a call.
@18dmedic Our ambulances do it all the time, and sometimes the engines too. It is very unsafe. There has been a few times I haven't seen/heard the ambulance till it has already passed.
At one of my fire houses, we have a freightliner with a big cam Cummins with a 13 speed Eaton fuller with 2850 onboard. A blast to drive.

@InvasorEspacial007 No, we were doing a tanker shuddle. The crew was going back to the hydrant for another load.
