Impact on earth with cars aside, (even though this is a valid point) having more people on bicycles and less people in cars would benefit everybody. If you don't think so, take a trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and then come back with a clear picture of the issue. People talk to each other on the way to work rather than honking horns at each other and stressing in traffic jams.
