  • I had Freeway, Kaboom, Starmaster, and Grand Prix for my Atari and Pitfall II and H.E.R.O. for my Commodore 64. I also have Activision Anthology. Activision made leaps and bounds in the video game industry by becoming one of the first third party developers for a home game system, and giving proper credit to their designers, a formality that continues today in advanced forms.

  • Activision used to be SO AWESOME. Now they're publishing ridiculous games like Call of Duty.

  • The game @ 5:44 will cause a seizure for sure!

  • activision where brains are as rare as hens teeth

  • i love that loud sound at the end in every commercial after they said ''by activision''

  • Extraodinary graphics and incredibly realistic action? lol!

Didn't take much to impress people in those days.

  • ah so this is how evil was born.......

  • this is on my activision anthology for ps 2

  • im in Activision

  • this is hilarious!!

  • I see they haven't changed their logo at all...

  • The best part is within 6 months Atari had nearly killed gaming with E.T. But the video is so optimistic, they had no idea what was about to happen.

  • Whoa Phil Hartman!

  • Oh, so activision was always bad

  • @MannyPearce I hope you're being sarcastic. Activision was wonderful in the Atari 2600 era. Even unimaginative imitations like "Freeway" were quite good.

  • 2:16, the original Red Dead Redemption

  • Awesome video!

  • Phil Hartman?

  • Ah, the days when Activision wasn't shit...

  • lol the crash of 83' was near

  • try makeing money today with 1 person as a dev team to make a big budget title

  • I remember beating a Activision game with a high score, taking a picture of it and mailing it to Activision. And they mail you a patch.

  • It's like the future, only 28 years ago!

  • I am neither blinking nor sneezing. Oh my, the double negatives!

  • Thought they were going to kiss at 1:07.

  • Steal the idea for Frogger and replace it with a chicken and you've got a completely new game! I see Activation's method of innovation hasn't changed much over the years...

  • @Antithos I don't think Crane did steal the idea. Rather, whoever made Frogger and Crane himself had the same idea at around the same time (it happens). In fact, Freeway was supposed to be Bloody Human Freeway, with a guy getting splattered along the freeway in gory (as far as the 2600 was concerned) detail. Frogger, however, is the better game, I must admit that.

  • @Antithos To be fair, a lot of home video games were rip-offs of arcade games back in the day. Tons of Pac-Man, Frogger, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, and Q*Bert clones. A truly original game back then was a diamond in the rough, much like today.

  • Commercials = Lolwut?

  • Realistically rad graphics!!

  • Holy shit, that's Phil Hartman!

Good to see you promoting games, Phil!

  • this is when Activision was actually pulling the industry forward, not holding it back like Kotick is today. Shit was real when these guys ran the show.

  • ICE HOCKEY BY ACTIVISION!!!!!!!!

  • Can this be unlocked on the PSP version of "Activision Hits Remixed" and if so, how?

  • Seriously, Ice Hockey is one of my all-time favourite games, still play it now on Atari emulator, lol

  • does anybody know who the instrumental synth music in the back ground is by?

  • (crazy person yell) ICE HOCKEY BY ACTIVISION!!!!!!!!! IM READY

  • ahhh the good ol' days. Barnstormer was such a fun game when I was young. Great video.

  • this takes me back.i still have all the games mentioned in this video.
