  • The KING unmatched by any one forever

  • well ,this is the king .

  • I remember driving an old blue GMC truck to the grain field and having trouble crossing a muddy creek when I heard on the Radio that Elvis was gone. I told my father when I got to the field. He never allowed me to listen to Elvis...but ironicaly he seemed sad when Elvis died.

  • @sivvybee True!

  • Wait, so, who recorded it first? Elvis or Three dog night?

  • @TheSternSteven three dog night did,but when elvis sang it he flat out owned it! just like he owned every song he did a cover to.

But I forgot how he had this amazing ability to sing it even BETTER than the original !!! This is just another example of why ELVIS is so LOVED today

  • great song he the best that ever was and will be

  • Written by Hoyt Axton. MGM recorded Elviss performance of Never Been To Spain for the documentary Elvis on Tour. A few months later, RCA recorded the evening show at Madison Square Garden on June 10, 1972. Its that version that RCA released. This performance was recorded in April 1972 in San Antonio, TX and is available on Elvis Close-Up.

  • Hoyt's Mom Mae Axton wrote Heartbreak Hotel but had to give Elvis part songwriting credit to get him to record it. It was inspired by a suicide note that said "I walk a lonely street."

  • Great Song and Great Photos...Thanks for the post!

    Happy New Year!

  • I've always admired this very fun and fabulous song a whole lot. Elvis has the very best renditions of this song for sure. As you know, the entire concert from April 18, 1972 in San Antonio, Texas is available on CD #4 of the four disc box set "Close Up" from 2003. I own that box set as well. Elvis will always be the best thing that's ever happened to the music and entertainment industries. John Lennon was absolutely right when he infamously said "Before Elvis, There Was Nothing". 10 Stars
