  • This is my friend code 2621-2635-7647 can u give me yours please

  • did urs cam with spotpass activated my didnt nd I need code

  • Lhow do u earn new play coins??? I just found out I can add recording but I need 15 play coins and I only hav 3. Help!

  • @saadat504 You have to walk -_-. FAIL.

  • @supermariolego878 Well, you don't technically HAVE to walk. As long as you are moving the 3DS around while closed, it will count the movement as steps. It's just easier to carry you system around with you. Even on a day I don't get out much, I can easily get 400-700 steps in.

  • @saadat504 Turn your 3DS on, close the system, and carry it around with you. The system will record the number of steps you take, which can be seen at the top middle of the main menu. Every 100 steps equals one coin. You can earn up to 10 coins in one day. So, bring that 3DS with you everywhere you go!

  • Great idea. Too convoluted to be fun I would think.

  • @tatecheddar actually, it's quite fun even considering the limitations. I've got a game going right now that is hilarious. I might compile it and upload it when we finish.

  • here do i buy the stationary I cant find it?

  • @sitruc3000 You have to keep writing notes until the option to purchase new stationary becomes available. The graph paper is 5 coins and is located on the top row, 5th from the upper left corner.

  • 31,000 views? Amazing! Now if only I had a dollar for each view....I'd only have $70k worth of college debt to pay off. :D

    SCAD is so expensive. :(

  • @MNCDover dude I want to go to SCAD!! it is expensive so I can't go there unless I get enough scholarships.

  • @aaron1afi If it makes you feel any better, I've had no scholarships. Some government funds, state grant, and a metric TON of loans. I'm gonna be so in debt it hurts, which is precisely why I need to get a game job as soon as I graduate. :D

Anyways, if you want to do it, do it. Don't hide behind any excuses. Make it happen.

  • 295 play coins O__O

  • Awesome. I've already played a short game with my friend, the template is really helpful. It would be more helpful if I had a word doc. of it though.

  • @DieGeist27 Check my video response. I've attached a full dungeon, complete with layouts, monsters, treasure, and descriptions. In addition, I posted some universal characters and combat rules to help get ya started. Not a word doc, but in jpeg and pdf. Hope that helps.

  • You sir, are a genius. So just one person plays and the other is the dungeon master?

  • @DieGeist27 Yup, that's basically the long and short of it. Just like any other RPG, simply or as complex as you want it to be. That, and it's just another fun way to make an already amazing piece of software even more fun.

    I <3 Swapnote!

  • Check out my video response for a more detailed tutorial and beginners dungeon.

  • nice idea.

    gbatemp.net/topic/318213-swapnote-werewolves-test-round

  • i would love to get in on this!

  • go charge your battery

  • randomly checking out vids on youtube stumbled across this one and was impressed... the idea is simple yet effective. its cool honestly what could make it better is if swapnote had a keypad to type in stuff since writing out word-p-word takes up to much space

  • My brain has officially exploded, but in a good way.

  • joystiq sent me here

  • I found out about this from:

    bit . ly/x0IHsI

  • Found this Vid from a link from cinemablend . com biggin it up. sounds like fun stuff but a lil over my head for me I like the D&D 80's cartoon it that counts :D

  • This sounds awesome. I'm not really into these kinds of games but the simplicity of it all is very enticing.

  • Found out about it on an italian website. Keep up the good work dude!

    mattsgames.it/3ds/dungeons-dragons-su-nintendo-postbox

  • Very innovative.

boards.ign.com/nintendo_3ds_lobby/b25212/207855000/p1/?3 are spreading the word. Peace.

  • Anyone else think he has the exact same voice as Mike Mattei from Cinemassacre?

  • I just found this via joystiq and I'm stoked. I made two little pictures with swap note and thought how fun but my friends didn't download the app. I'm a novice d and d player but this screams awesome! I'm so down for this! Nice job!

  • Absolutely Genius :D

Me and my friends used to use a wipe board for the longest time lol this would have been hella better. Seriously dude kudos

  • If you don't mind me asking, how did you all find your way here? I'm trying to list all the links/sites in the video description.

  • awesome job. cant wait to be a part of this game. i would love to add you to my 3ds and have you add me. cant wait till you get a site and a forum going. brilliant idea buddy.

  • OMMMMGGGGGG

  • 21,000 views?! Thanks to everyone who has spread the word so far. Please keep the momentum going.

  • Hi, nice to meet you. my nintendo 3ds add my FC: 201997276479. I play tetris axis, mario kart 7, Ssf4 3d and more.

Thanks for sharing fun things. Please see my epic 1st videos and donate to good cause if you feel bold and brave enough.

    blesses

    Arek

  • This is on dvice, its crazy how big this is getting. Well done.

  • @jmontes2345 Really? Could you send me a link so I can add it to the video description? Thanks!

  • This video has been posted on seven different sites now. Word is spreading fast. Keep the momentum going if you can. Facebook, Twitter, Reddit. I need more people making dungeons. :D

  • amazing!

  • Man id be honored for you to add me so I can try this out my F is 1891-1233-8706

  • @777rick777 Thanks! I've been getting a ton of FC requests since this went up. I'm in the works on getting a universal website up and running so we all have a place to put up codes and share dungeons. Until I get that up and running, I probably won't be doing much FC stuff.

BUT! You could totally add MeiReiNeko right under your comment. :D

  • @MNCDover Will do, and I look forward to the that site

  • That's awesome! now if only I had friends...

  • @MeiReiNeko Start connecting with people here. Find someone to be the DM and you can be the player, or vice-versa. It never hurts to ask.

  • somebody has no friends

  • @Hippiegeekful I have quite a few friends actually. :p More importantly, I've had a ton of free time off over the holidays. Back to school on Wednesday.

  • 265 coins on your 3DS? Dang.

  • " i put on my robe and wizard hat"

    dear god

  • @Robloxfan22 That was only the first 3 I got. One dude drew his big Warrior guy looking all buff before drawing a boomerang in his hand and adding "Boomerang Warrior" in 3D text. Gamers are awesome.

  • Great idea xD

  • this is cool, having a nintendo themed dnd would be fun since this is on the 3ds

  • @Killamancer Personally, I think Nintendo struck gold with Find Mii I and II. Japan isn't really known for D&D style games, but you know, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from making a SNRPG with a Nintendo character lead and world.

You should absolutely make some SNRPGs with Mario, Link, or whoever as the lead. Add in less popular characters to fill in their stories when they aren't in game. "Birdo's Quest: The Journey into Confusion." :D

  • Great idea! I think the use of audio could definitely benefit more of the role playing aspect than just dungeon crawling. Using Swapnote it would be easier for the DM to play multiple NPC/PC-not-present roles. How you given any consideration as to how to make the "dice rolls" visible to all players (so no one suspects the DM of cheating)?

  • @mythbuilder Well, being a player and a DM in the past, there are times when the DM flat out cheats. Sometimes it's to save the player's lives other times to make things more difficult if they've been breezing by.

SNRPG is meant to be a little more loose, as it's already hefty in all the note passing. My games are on an honor system, but maybe a die rolling website could work. :D

  • cool idea, what's your FC btw

  • thank yo!!! add me 3136=6595=6587

  • @north799

ive added you to my friends list, maybe we could start a game, please add me too, here´s my friend code:

    0301-9768-7236

    thanks!!!

  • It seems like it would all work out pretty well. Though combat seems like it would hinder things. Unless enemies are killed in one turn it will take a lot of notes back and forth. Especially since the character set ups you gave give the characters a lot of options to pick from while fighting so they would have to pick for each turn.

  • wow this is insanely cool, want to try so bad!

  • Awesome Ben!

  • "Don't get overly detailed as players are known to screw up everything you do anyway."

Being a D&D/Pathfinders player, I can vouch that this is the most accurate thing said on youtube outside of educational videos.

Anyways, this looks awesome! I want to give this a shot.

  • Like a Boss! Very creative and honestly pretty clever work here. Grats!

  • EXCELLENT. I dont own a 3DS but would gladly purchase one if this was made into something more substantial/

  • @TheNewDemoman Voice Spell casting would make me happy.

    Fus Ro Dah?! :D

  • @TheNewDemoman No reason players couldn't use voice clips to cast spells. That would make it more immersive and hillarious. Player simply attaches a voice clip to the note they send to the DM. :D

  • I would call it "Scribble Quest", but it sounds too much like Scribblenauts. Hmm...

  • Basically, old school play-by-mail/email. (By old-school, I mean passing notes that will be read directly by a player, and not the kind where a separate game program reads and produces email automatically.)

    Not bad.

  • This is a fantastic idea! I used to DM but I was TERRIBLE :') So if you/anyone else needs a player, i'm in ^___^

  • This is probably one of the best ideas I've ever heard of! I DM a lot of games, but I think one system that might be perfectly suited for this kind of game would be something akin to Savage Worlds. It's easy, and fast, and works in any setting.

I'm looking forward to tinkering with this idea.

  • To saaaaand!

  • Very creative! would be cool if you posted play sessions of players via youtube, and allow them to cas spells via VOICE SHOUTING lol

  • @PkmnWifiTV This...

    TILL DU UL

    or

FUS RO DAH. (Sigh I cant help myself, my Thuum is too powerful.

  • My nerd sense is tingling! :D

  • @NekoDamacy I'm happy to say that I love it when my nerd sense tingles. It feels like a rare and unique trait that only other nerds can feel.

This time, I got the feeling because not only could I implement a D&D-type system into a free app, but it would be instantly "neat" in the eyes of many other nerds. :D

  • I would love to help test the game, my friend code is 1032 - 1703 - 0358

  • wow, i like the basic idea, maybe a bit less complex... yeah!

  • @tomutwit I agree 100%. I'm trying to get some people to help out with streamlining the whole game/process. Maybe one day.

  • @MNCDover I was thinking, basically, say I decided to do a Mario themed one. I'd first send out a letter to everyone on my friends list (done) and the first, like, 7 people who reply I then ask them who they want to be, say, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Kamek, say. I keep saying say. Weird. Then I send them their situation, they pick their move. Unless they're together (ie Mario and Luigi) not everybody will know much about what the others are doing. I make up the story as I go along.Vids maybe.

  • @tomutwit if you need any help with art or designs or anything, give me a YT DM!

  • yawn...

  • funny how this app is called "swapnote" in the US and "nintendo letterbox" here in the UK

  • how do the players know what the other players are doing?

  • @TheMagnoxian In a nutshell, this is how it works:

The DM sends a note to the player giving them info about the room they are in and an updated map. The player then creates a new note telling the DM what action(s) they want to take, like searching for treasure, attack an enemy, etc. The DM simply has to respond to their actions, update the map, move the monsters etc.

Like a slower version of D&D, but digital, and with fun drawings.

  • Really great idea, hoping I can get some swapnote D&D or star wars running :)

  • @Wildseven19XX For sure. Use the image in the video description and make your own SNRPG. You could post a video of your level here too.

  • Hey there, I'm going to study video game design to and I'm a DnD nerd also. I've had similar ideas in the past to make these kind of stuff and make old Pen and paper RPGs more up to date, on the go and accessible so im realy interested in helping you design the game, work and write on design documents, brain storm with u etc... just send me a message on my youtube account and ill send you my info on any social media or program you use to communicate.

  • Great idea!

    Liked and Subscribed. :)

  • So what will you be actually doing when you get a job? Designing levels for games?

  • @TheXRealXBrapp Honestly, I have no idea. I'm not a great artist or modeler, but I have lots of experience in management. Obviously a Producer role would be a good fit, but I'll do whatever it takes to succeed.

  • Saw this on Kotaku, seems pretty intricate. I love SwapNote.

  • this video is featured on kotaku! hopefully it blows up! congrats man

  • @gamereviewsss I saw that. Very, very cool. Hopefully it'll get to other sites so more people can enjoy some SNRPG for themselves. :)

  • @gamereviewsss Yeah dude, it's on Destructoid too!

  • @gamereviewsss It has so far. Six sites (that I know of) so far. I've been adding them into the video description as I go. Please keep spreading the word and post any other sites as you uncover them.

I'm hoping all the press will help me in the future at trying to get my foot in the door in the gaming industry. At the very least, it couldn't hurt. :D

  • wow. very unique. great job man.

  • @gamereviewsss Thanks. Give it a try with your buddies and let me know what you think. Always looking for improvements. :D
