That's a really nice looking port! The music is pretty cool for something that outputs GM-standard music. I'm an huge fan of the series and have been for 16 years, but had to pass this one due to a lack of an FM Towns Marty when I saw it on eBay. Graphics are clean and crisp. Great find!
Puyo 1 was ported on pretty much everything, as was Puyo 2. Compile were crazy with those games but they proved to be the most popular franchise they made until they filed for bankruptcy in 2001.
Yeah, with Puyo Puyo, that game has been poorted over soo many systems it's insaine. I like to think of Puyo Puyo as the "Village Bicycle" so to speak XD
hey luke, i know you have some knowledge on arcade machines and stuff,i so while we are in the puzzle talk, do you know exist an Arcade of Panel de Pon? thanks for your vids
It's interesting to notice that when you first turn the system on, the refresh rate of the screen plays havoc with the camera, but you don't see any horizontal lines during actual game play, the screen must be using a very high refresh rate that doesn't play havoc with the camera. I love the music in this game.
No this is the original Japanese version. The US one has characters from the Sonic cartoon for Genesis and Kirby characters for SNES (Kirby's Avalanche).
I never understood the thing they did when they ported this to the megadrive, the entire "Robotnics mean bean machine". I mean, I guess that it would sell better 'cause of the sonic-relation made, but.. still. That was just weird ^^ I got one of the later Puyo games as one of the first games for my saturn, I played the heck out of it!
You are very untidy!! good video

Ooooh this looks like the game that became "Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine" and that's a good(albeit hard) game!

Interesting that CRI not only ported SEGA arcade games on that system, but they also ported Puyo Puyo as well.

Neat now are the games cheap,or expensive compare to the marty luke ?
Progearspec 2 years ago
Cheaper than the marty and a bit easier to find but depending on the game can still cost well over $60 per title

Awesome! Puyo is great. Cool to see you've got an FM Towns Marty. I'd love to get ahold of one along with Splatterhouse.
Great vid.
