  • Im not sure about pot but i would say most likley because he was a very heavey cocaine user and alcoholic and use to mix cocaine in with his alcohol in the mornings so i would imagine he did weed to but im not sure

  • i met sum1 last week who grew up with stevie nd jimie. he told me lots of stories about him. BEST TIME I EVER HAD!! also he had THEE best replica of his no.1 strat nd i got to play it YES!! (not through an amp though :-(

  • My dad used to jam with him, and he said SRV was constantly smoking amphetamines. That's why he can play so fast.

  • I have never heard that. And I hope that you will not take offense that I do not believe that. SRV had alcohol and cocaine problems, which thankfully he finally licked and gave us 3 years (thereabouts) before he died in the helicopter crash in August 1990.

  • wrong, the reason he played so fast is because he practiced night and day. anyone who knew him knew that when he was on drugs thats all he did. guitar was quite literally his life.

  • I didn't read all the comments but if someone mentioned comparing him to Angus, there is no comparison. I was learning Angus Young's stuff when I'd only been playing guitar for a month. It's easy stuff. Stevie Ray, however, is amazing. You won't find any E, A, G power chord progression with him.

  • No, he is using a Leslie speaker for this song. He used it live for a couple other tunes too - The intro to Couldn't Stand the Weather comes to mind. Actually the audio for this video is very good. It is the basis for an import CD.
