I think it became a gag from the early years of plays. They would serve fruit or what ever and if they players acted bad, they would through. Not sure though, look it up.

what is the cause of the croweds reaction? First they seem to be enjoying the show, then they look upset, and at the end it looks as though they are cheering. I just don't get it.

At first they thought it was an act. But the moment they discovered Dr. Greed has taken animals turning them into Mix Max Sausage Links then they started letting their anger out on him. They were cheering ebcause they thanked the Fearless Four for opening their eyes.

Not really, I just pretty much figured it out after watching the movie. I will admit that though I have a grandmother born from Germany, I can't speak the language. The only one who really knows is Mom, she knew when we were watching Indiana Jones. I hope that answers your questions.
