  • Chef... i think u forgot to add salt or just to show it in video...like I often forget till i sit on the dining table with my spoon :)

Two more tips from my experience...

1.Sprinkle little salt to taste immediately after draining poha and give it a good toss and add little more salt when you saute' onions n green chilies to taste...

2.Adding green peas, carrot and sweet corn nibblets will be a good variation... which i usually make at home to excite my daughter..

  • Dear Friend,

Your way of presentation is very goooood. But your file size is big takes a lot of time to play.

Keeping the file size low will enable us to visit more.

  • Awesome sanjay ..very nice n easy to cook ..plz help us with sch more easy recipes

  • It looks very good. I have never had Poha upma. Thank you for up loading

  • It was a wonderful dish......

I enjoyed it very very much.

  • I made it! I'm enjoying it right now. The only downside is, the channa daal was rock hard, despite having gone dark reddy brown in colour. Should I have used soaked daal? Chef's please mention these details in your videos, so newbies to Indian cooking can enjoy maximum pleasure and benefit from your dishes.

  • @1slamicLife

hi if you are not confident about getting perfectly roasted while preparing the dish. I would advice you to roast it in oil on a pan separately and then add it to the dish while cooking. Keep medium flame, then add chana dhal, put your NOSE into action. If you get a smell, it ll be ok after 5 seconds. but if you leave it bit longer like 15 seconds, well enough for it to turn black.

  • @sankadines Thanks, that's a good idea to fry it separately. But if you don't mind I won't follow the last part of your advice : )

'well enough for it to turn black'

  • Indian dishes fascinate me. The variations are endless. Enjoying this very much.

  • simple rice nahi lag rahe aur tarha ke lag rahe hai...agr aise ider na mile to......

  • where can i get Poha in Malaysia? any idea from Malaysian viewer?

  • @elawlmi a malaysian brand 4 poha is arrowheadmills puffed rice which i believe u can get in any supermarket

  • so easy and awesome! :) )

  • Nice one .....in karnataka it is called avalakki upma ...thanks for posting it.........

  • I made this poha for my boy friend. He is not Indian. He loved it so much that he wants me to make it again for him ;)

  • I just made this dish, easy n quick to make and tasted awesome! VahreVah!!!

  • i guess pha chivda was more tasty then it cos poha lost its crispyness in this upma.

  • plz yaar hindi mai kyo nahi batate ho hindi mai batawo to hum bhi kuch sikh le or acchi recipe ka maza le sake

  • should I use thin poha or thick one?

  • i actually prefer this one, cause i cooked poha from another recipe and it was a disaster, i mean too many engridients, also they add ginger garlic paste it just over powered the whole thing. my husband ubsuloutely hated it. im gonne try this recipe and see how it turns out. if this tastes any where near as the other one i'm not going to cook this again.

  • Good recipe, chef.Simple and very tasty.

  • chef Sanjay Rocks...!!!

  • do u say bhuna chana daal to use or the regular chana daal?

  • istead of lemon u can add tomato......that would be very tasty........ :)

  • If you don't have lemon available, one convenient alternative is to mix a teaspoon of tamarind juice into the poha once it has been soaked in water and drained. Should give it a slight sour or tangy flavour.

  • I live in France, where can I get all these ingrediants ? :(

  • if you are in paris go gare du nord. Lots of indian groceries there...

  • É Isso Aí !! Very GOOOD !!!

  • woh woh.......i m gng to cook now.!! lets go & impress my huby tonite ..here we goooooooooooooooooooo!!!! thx agn

  • yes i did it but i didnt have daals so i added potato & one spoon of sugar at end......but believe it or not ..........its too gud hmmm with custard....yummi !!

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i can´t wait to cook.........i´m already hungry !! lol lol

  • i can live on poha diet....so delicious n lite! my roomie is stunned to see my poha addiction lols..

  • I kept replaying the best part: 3:41 - 4:04.

It looks so good, I've never seen rice like this before T_T

  • lol. i agree. hahaha

  • A pinch of sugar is great with it. I learn't it when in Karnataka once..The sugar plays with the salt and lemon taste and the whole thing becomes round.

also, adding fresh grated coconut (after adding poha) makes it a royal treat!

    thanks!

  • NO GHEE? haha that stuff is in everything,

Another great video Vah Chef! keep it up!

  • you can always put a tea spoon of ghee on top of everything, even in drinks. everything tastes better with fresh ghee.

  • what ghee in drinks wtf!!! :P

  • does indian cooking ever use mushroom?

  • yes, Vah chef has some mushroom recipes. Check them out.

  • yes we have mushroom sabji

  • I believe most Indian mushroom dishes are Indianized versions of foreign dishes that use mushrooms, but yes, Indian cooking uses mushrooms. Just google "mushroom curry" and you'll get quite a few recipes. Vah chef has a Indian style mushroom fry recipe too.

  • another variation is adding peas and potatoes along with onion and later garnishing it with freshly grated coconut and cilantro .. and it is known an kanda -batata poha ... tastes equally good...

  • another variation - vangi pohe, using brinjal(Eggplant/aubergine)

  • Yea we always make it that away.. try it newcomers!!

  • were is the hd resolution men????

  • you can garnish it with finely chopped onions and sev...it takes too good

  • That looks delicious!

  • This is famous Marathi Dish "Kande Pohe" of course chana daal urad daal are optional ingredients. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

PS - Marathi version of "Onion Samosa" recipe you shared earlier uses Kande Phoe for "stuffing".....
