  • Grew up watching Al and Jerry. They WERE Baltimore. Miss them both.

  • Wow, i'm a little too young to remember Jerry Turner, but not Al Sanders, I remember him like it was yesterday, R.I.P. Mr. Sanders

  • It's been 16 years this week since the death of Al Sanders. 16 years later, another legend retired, Terps coach Gary Williams.

  • these guys were legends in baltimore.............

  • Best News team in the world, I remember watching Jerry and Al every day as a child, my dad used to watch only Channel 13 and I watch it today with my son, It's a 3 generation channel with my family, Channel 11 and Channel 2 can't compete. I miss them everyday they rocked as a news force and I know thier rocking the news force in heaven. Forever in heart and In mind <3

  • What a guy.

  • this makes me happy

  • i have the jerry turner tribute on VHS... i better get offa my fat buttocks and restore it... :(

  • Al Saunders and Jerry Turner were queer for Marty Bass.

  • Al and Jerry FTW!

  • I only worked with Al for a year up until the weeks before he passed away. He was truely a special person with a huge heart. Every so often I watch these videos to 'ground' myself.

The saturation of TV, internet and cable venues will never be able to recreate such genuine talent like Al, and Jerry Turner.

  • I remember Al from his days in St. Louis radio, when he was known as "Scoop" Sanders. Loved his voice!

  • Shame, Al and Jerry were best of friends and it showed. Best broadcast I ever watched.

  • Two words for Al Sanders and Jerry Turner....Class and Professionalism.

  • @TheLimpwristed Yep, I'm a native Baltimorian and I live in Texas now, I did not even know that Al was gone until I saw this.

  • Tears are not optional watching this.......Jerry & Al were part of growing up in Central MD and there simply will NEVER be anyone like them again. Thanks for the memories I hold them near and dear to my heart.

  • this is awesome. I grew up with them. This was real reporting and real local journalism before the sensationalism.

  • i'm from baltimore i love and adore my city and i remember Al Sanders and Jerry Turner.... they were some of the best newsrrmen in the biz! They really cared about people i hope they're together in the great beyond. baltimore i love you and all of your wonderful citizens. wouldn't choose another place to be born even if i could.

  • I still miss you everyday RIP Dad

  • @djblends he was your Dad?

  • @djblends

You had a great Dad...I watched him & Jerry while I was growing up.

Their will never be another one like him ever again......He was the best.

  • @djblends Al Saunders is my dad too.He fathered dozens of children in the thirty years he lived in Baltimore as he had avery active Labito.

  • @yourdickis2limp What was Al like in person?

  • @djblends I miss your father and Jerry Turner, I was young then I think 15 and 21 years old and listen to them they made the news make sense to me, the worst news at the end they would say something nice about something

  • I remember being 6 years old when I saw this, and I will never forget his broadcasts.

  • there will never again be an anchor team as great as Al Sanders and Jerry Turner.

  • I don't mind admitting that I cried during this video. Baltimore needs an inspiration like Al again.

  • My graduating class at Hammond High School in Columbia was blessed to have Al speak at our commencement ceremonies in 1994 just before he passed. With all that occured that day, it was his speech that stands out the most in my memories of that day. He was truly a wonderful, caring individual and it showed in everything he did.

  • I love seeing Jerry too. Pure charm.

  • I worked with Al briefly in 1994/1995 recording his radio promos for the 6 o'clock news.

I soon noticed he had a 'wheez' to his breaths, and asked him if he smoked. He indeed did, which was unexpected to me.

I had just quit smoking through hypnosis and suggested it to Al. A week or so later he quit, but he eventually passed about a year later.

One of the kindest persons I've ever met. A warm and gentle soul. Complemented me on my 'even keel' and how it was a pleasure working with me.

  • Your a kind man to share a story in trying to save people's lives, you really should be proud of what you tried to do, thank you.

  • i'm from baltimore and i felt hurt when he died a year before baltimore got the ravens i think if he were still alive he'd be a die hard ravens fan

  • This newscast was 2 weeks before I was born! And I was born in Baltimore! That's pretty cool.

  • Al is the king of Baltimore Journalism.

  • Jerry Turner (1929 - 1987)

  • I wondered what Al passed away from?

  • Al passed away from lung cancer.

  • I agree....Al and Jerry complimented each other and agree with those Jokes

  • Jerry Turner and Al Sanders where the best I remember that no matter what the bad news of the day was they always signed off with a funny story

  • Al and jerry was the voices that did the buddha's work.

  • Jerry and AL were the best in baltimore ever had. I know O was here too.

  • Al was a class act.

  • what a tribute! Jerry and Al..the best news team.

  • I lived in Columbia, which is where Al lived (in Thunder Hill)---even to this day, I cry at the clips of him and Jerry----I miss those days

  • He was the reason I watched the news. When Al passed away, I haven't watched the news on that station since. Great video.

  • I was blessed to live in DC to see Gordon Peterson and Max Robinson and then watch Jerry Turner and Al Sanders in Baltimore. Two legendary news teams!!

  • Those were the days....

  • Don't forget Oprah Winfrey, she has become a Legendary Talk show host due to WJZ in baltimore.

  • One of a kind.

  • Thanks for putting this up. It really made me cry.
