how do you make the checkpoint move to another point so that when you die you respawn in a different place, i've seen it on other levels online so i know it can be done but i really need help! :)

you could open the door invert the button and make the button close the door

Yes you do because one of them was on directional and one of them was on on/off.

Certain things don't work with directional because they have no directions.

Dark matter. Darm matter cannot be destroyed and it floats. So if anything is 'glued' onto dark matter, it will not fall.

If you make your own stuff in your levels it is almost impossible to fill up the thermometer.

The thermometer is actaully amazingly big in LBP.

When you bring the diamond it triggers the dissolve material to disappear. Once this disspaears, the two magntic switches fall into range, and thus activate the door to open in a direction. This will leave it permantly opened as the magnetcis keys will never leave range.

The whole level design concept could have been done better. A guide for the game covering this would have been good too. It's too restrictive, the thermometer on the side of the screen that is, I barely do anything and it's almost full!

The difference is when directional is activated, for example, on a piston, lets say that its a grab switch on a sponge type material, when the player grabs the sponge the piston will move, for example, up, and then, when they let go it will return back down.

However, with the on/off switch it will not return, most "expert" levels will use methods with directional..

direction does different things for different switches, for instance, with a 3 way switch that is attached to wheels, it controls, well the wheels direction. if you want me to go into more detail, you could message me, or if you need any help, i have been playing lpb since day one.

Use very few materials. It doesn't matter a lot about how much you use, more of how many materials you use.
