  • i know this video is old, but running a BOV vented to atmosphere can actually mess with the idle a bit. unless your running a MAF after the BOV. it will throw the ECU off bc its releasing air that the MAF has accounted for. so in term is running rich.

  • sounds like a bad isc motor, did you ever figure it out?

  • holsetdsm91 is right bout possible problems. the "tick' can also be your fuel injectors or fuel rail. Also there is an ISC motor on your throttle body that controlls air flow. If this goes out, there is no code for it so just replace it. It s alot cheaper than a throttle position sensor. I got a 91 eagle talon tsi and have completely rebuilt it.

  • well for one i own a dsmshop! the tick is a lifter tick! it does nothing to your car just annoying! to get rid of it throw in some 3g "revised" lifters! and the idling issue is because of the throttle position sensor is going out! those are 2 huge problems that always go out in dsm's i get them in my shop all the time! and why it bogs down when you pull the plug! thats the mass airflow and when you unplug it it reads nothing and runs rick on air! i would reccomend running the stock bov!

  • i wonder why this car was so cheap on the price-_-

  • Turn the car off and unplug the isc motor then start it back up. The idle should level out. It on the tb

  • Dude you need a set of automatic tickers upper engine part, new seals and you need to change the condensors in the computer box ( on the motherboard ) thats the reason for Idle fluctuation -- add ecu settings stock and get a better second hand ilde regulator -- that should do it ( by the sound of the engine this old horse had a tough life ) -- Eclipse 94 Gs owner myself

  • try adjusting the cam angle sensor?

  • wow, do a hear a bit of knocking?

  • @otisforeal Yep thats called lifter tick add some lucas from auto part would do the job, but thats not the cause of the rough idling definitely your problem its the head gasket. And i guaranteed it 100% mines use to idle the same way and even made that tick too lol thats why im familiar. for the tick (lucas) for the rough idling (head gasket), anyways do a compression test, or easier open your water&coolant cap start engine wait a few sec and acel if waters jumps up (HG) definitely..

  • i think thats ur Throttle possition sensor. or it cud be ur idle control sensor. if not you may have a vacume leak some where

  • its your idle air control valve

  • @stoner2600 yeah i think ur right

  • u need to adjust ur throttle body

  • you need to recirculate your bov back befor the turbo. unless you change you maf. it needs to be recirculated

  • vacuum lines

  • Thats is/was the idle air control or the IAC motor itself. freakin...the balance shafts dont effect your idle. The balance shafts were made to reduce vibration. I eliminated them on my engine and the vibs are not even bad enough to need them really.

  • iac motor

  • it missfires

  • whats the black stuff on the ground underneat the exaust pipe was that oil ?

  • actually i've heard alot of cars like they, people tweak it it'll just rev up slightly for like a second, then go back down then rev back up... i'm not sure if that's what this is cus is did sound like it wasn't keeping an order..... try taking it to a tune shop

  • its most likely the idle control motor gone bad just replace it and you should be fine

  • if you find out what it is let me know. my talon does the exact same thing.

  • i have an eagle talon i've been building, i love it. I'm not sure what the problem you're worrying about is. the one thing i notice is your engine oscillating. And that sounds like your timing is off. make sure that its correct. check the rear balance shaft, even if the timing mark is lined up, it can be 180 degrees off. so check that, but if its timed right, then it sounds like your ECU. check out motoguys on ebay. you can buy an ECU and get your money back if it doesn't fix it
