@starcrafter84 yer i do too, ff13 had shit loads of potential, i mean the characters and story was pretty dam good, it's what kept me playing it, i even liked the battles system even tho it was a tad over simplified inorder to make it run quicker.... the main thing that held it back was just the level design and the lack of variety in gameplay which they have clearly fixed, with all the mini games and puzzles ect, i for one am looking forward to it....

I think the last scene like that in a Final Fantasy is Squall vs Edea in FF8. It's such an epic build-up with Squall doing some pretty Epic special agent stuff, so it was a huge shock when it ends with him being shot by icicles through his chest.

Of course he survives though, but the team does fail badly, is sent to prison, and it causes war to break in the world, which includes thousands of people dying just in Trabia Garden alone for example. So the consequences were meaningful.

Square Enix have produced many high quality games throughout the years so of course the fans expect the same with each installment.

XIII is actually my favourite so far, then VIII close behind.

I understood its flaws and I knew why they were in place and why the game was set-out how it was.

XIII-2 though has been receiving very positive praise. The previewers state it feels like Final Fantasy and feels alive.

If I remember correctly, only Final Fantasy I and VIII had any form of time travel.

I don't recall exactly how it works in FFI as it's been a long time since I've played it but I know it was only a very small part of it.

And in FF8 time travel is not even exactly an issue, it's just a sorceress so powerful that she can affect things in other time-lines, and only in the game's very end do you timetravel to face her.

This game looks.. Fantastic. Looks like it has a good story, a pretty cool bad guy and great visuals. Plus from another video of it's game play, it looks more open ended, which was very well needed.

Caius does seem like something that can make a huge difference in this game, FF is funny in how some games have incridible antagonists (FFIV, VI, VII and IX for example) while others have antagonists that are hardly reconizable (FFII, FFVIII, X and XIII for example).

Square can create great games with both formulas, but Caius may as well the spice needed to make FFXIII's world truly epic.

Yeah, I mean, sometimes we forget a bit about it since Square knows how to move the plot slowly and reasonably, but all FF games have some pretty fucked up esoteric plots. FFXIII was maybe the simplest one we got (although still far from "simple"), but those mentions of gods, parallel words and some of the other clues we got pointed to the possibility of some pretty crazy stuff being possible in that world, and it seems Square is gonna use it now.
