@nicollettePerfect well I Had 2 parakets but I couldn't ever get them to talk, I mean I'm not exactly that good with birds but they were alway more content with each other than me.

so unless you keep them seperated I wouldn't count to much on them talking.

By the markings on his face, he is not only 10 months old... mine is almost 2 years old and does not have even half of the "dots" alongside his beak and the stripes are complete around his head... this bird appears much older than only 10 months. :o)

The key to training a budgie to speak is to say what you want him/her to, or replay it, every day, slowly. It won't happen unless you do it everyday.

Note: My friend tells me this - I, myself, am unsure.

one month sounds barely out of the box, infact im surprised its out of its nest box :O and its not gonna do anything thing for a few days, let it get accustomed to its surroundings and then hopefuly he'll entertain you with his birdie ways, but umm if your expecting back flips and full conversations, your in for a downer, it takes months, years even to train a budgie to do things like that. :)

@WhiteMysticalWolf Actually I've noticed budgies vary a lot depending on the owners; like if you look on youtube, 'sparkie' has a female voice, 'apple' has a female aussie voice, 'lil babi' has a french accent, 'tiny tim' has a female american accent, 'shakey' has an american accent. That's aside from all the budgies who speak other languages like 'Pinachan' (japanese), 'bidik' (turkish), 'civciv' (turkish- see vid response below) etc.

Thats too funny. I had a budgie when I was younger, his name was Cracker (i know, generic!) and anytime someone walked up to the cage he'd say "whatcha doin?" and thanks to my brother he said a few swear words... *sigh* I really hope to get another one soon. They make such peaceful pals to live with. Their sounds are quiet and relaxing as well.

I actually think that the parakeet is the best talker in the parrot world. Not all of the speak and they can't learn as many phrases as say an African Grey but their actual pronunciation is amazing and the most exact.

My budgie was called Georgie and this one reminds me a lot of him. Having a mirror in the cage also helps him to talk. "Georgie porgey pretty boy" "going to school?" He said lots more. Used to say going to school when my step bro was ready to go to school! He used to talk a lot more than sing. I did even hear him talk in his sleep!
