The reason I abstained from explanations is because a heavy amount of the material is contingent upon previous knowledge of players and their level of involvement in competitive play. For example, consider "waveshining". All it consists of is a "shine" and then a "wavedash", but if you do not know what either of those terms are, the explanation means nothing. Try looking certain things up. If you are still confused, I will be more than happy to address specific questions.
In order to unlock Past Stages - Kongo Jungle, you have to complete the 15 Minute Melee [the mode with the Fighting Wire Frames]. An easy way of doing this is using Donkey Kong and spamming his Down + B move. It isn't failproof, but it will more than likely be sufficient to help you win.
@Shadoweprinz To perform the backland, simply jump or shorthop with the X or Y button and right before Fox lands, press the B button to use the blaster and tilt the control stick in the opposite direction that you were facing as you jumped. The blaster animation allows Fox to change position in air but gets interrupted by the land, allowing for you to space yourself properly for your next move. Be careful not to initiate the Illusion, though.

When I fought against someone at a game store in SSBM, I always lost against him, despite practicing very hard against Level 9 CPU players. After that, when some of my family relatives told me to not play it too much to become a better pro gamer, I've decided to become a Research Gamer, which is a gamer that studies more about video games than playing them, especially lesser-known underrated video games.
The game store opponent I fought against was doing the "wavedashing" and several other tricks not found in the manual, but can be seen in videos and with other pro gamers like the ones in this video.
Do any of these still apply to Brawl? I heard brawl ended up fixing some stuff that might have prevented these tricks. I have known about them but never bothered to try them
Things that ARE in Brawl: Backlanding Short Illusion Walljump Illusion Things that ARE NOT in Brawl: Waveshine Wallshine Infinite Edge Wavedash Flipside Fox plays drastically different than in Melee, rendering this video useless for Brawl tactics. Your methods of approach and combos should be different from Melee to Brawl. There IS Brawl+, however...
But I digress. Brawl + is as the name implies. It's a hack of Brawl, where it allows things like wavedashing in Brawl. If you want to know more, look it up. It's much too long for me to explain here.
You're right, Brawl+ is indeed a hacked version of Brawl. Just to make it clear though, only the earliest versions of Brawl+ included wavedashing; now it just uses Brawl's airdodge system.
Jump right after you do fox's down B, within in the first 3 frames of the jump, press down B again and you will cancel the jump. Just Rinse and Repeat.
You don't want to just do nothing after you jump, however. That would be pointless, so this is when you would add something like U-smash, grab, or another shine, for example. Also, you don't wait until the full jump animation. Before you even leave the ground, use another move. This "cancels" the jump in a sense, hence the name "jump cancel."
Fox is entirely different. His moveset is more or less the same, but the game mechanics in Brawl changed from Melee. Most of these tricks you see in this video are not able to be performed in Brawl. I still use Fox in Brawl, but in a much different manner.
Infinite Wall Shine: Down+B to shine, then basically wavedash, but instead wavedash into the ground so you don't slide, keeping you in place to initiate another shine.
Waveshine: Shine+wavedash, repeat.
However, I get the feeling you don't know what wavedashing is, so I suggest you go look that up. That way, what I said can relate to what you learned and can help you perform these tricks.

I came in first place in a tournament with fox, My friend Psalms won with Samus in second place,and my friend Menahem with C. Falcon.
The zero-gravity trick was so f'ing awesome the first time I encountered it! My little bro and I were training as our best characters(Fox for me, Falco for corbin,my brother.) He caught me in one of his mega combos flung me straight up in hyrule temple,I hit the ceiling and just floated there. We were laughing our asses off!
I slide my thumb from the Y button to the B button, then hit B again. it's not too hard to get the slide from Y to B as long as you don't hit the A button.
Zero gravity is just a game...physic glitch. You're at high percentages and you go to fly away far but a wall gets in your way. So you just kinda...stay there. It's fun.
D Pad is that grey colored cross/plus sign thing. D Pad is short for directional pad. It's the thing you use on a SNES controller to move your character. If you were serious....o.o
Jump towards a wall. Then before you hit the wall, push the analog stick in the opposite direction of the way you are moving. Just make sure you have a solid area of wall to jump off of, and watch your timing, but it's simple.
Basically what it looks like is what you'll be doing. (As I side note, if you want to do an edge stall, I'd prefer Firefox.)
Break it Down: You let go of the edge. Immediately after, illusion. It's hard to do if you let go of the edge by pressing down with the analog stick, so I actually used the C Stick here and performed the Illusion as I normally would. That's my tip here. And if you screw up, you're as good as dead, so...be careful.
You could press L and it'll roll you on the platform but you'll have to play defensive if that person is waiting. The point of edge wavedashing is to perform any attack in a split second to catch the other person off guard.
Without trouble? You can do it on any ledge, and it's quicker than a roll. It's not about distance, or recovery, it's tactics around the edge to get someone off guard, just like kirbylolz said.
Also, replying to another comment, short illusion is described in this comment area thousands of times, and the Corneria trick is in the video description.
Shield shine? That one is a pain. While you are in your shield, to perform this, you have to press the jump button, but before you jump, perform a shine. The point of the jump is to get out of the shield quicker than just letting go of L/R.
Also, you can do B+Up or an Up Smash out of your shield, but you do not need to jump first.

No...people don't tap it randomly. I'm telling people that there are blue figures where you can stop at. If you click randomly you only get the shortest because there is 1 second to choose. I'm saying people must have timing and not random clicking.
I mastered all of fox's moves, but out of all of the videos I've seen with him, I never see anyone doing the short fox illusion hitting someone. You can go near the edge of a stage do the illusion hitting someone, but not go off the stage.
Purpose for short illusion is mindgame, you can really use it any way, people's response to it varies, so you need to take advantage of that weakness.
It's basically a fake out, obviously not an offensive tactic.
And "that person" you'd want to fight is me, but technical abilities don't mean everything.
When I said short illusion hitting someone is that when you do the full illusion you will see about 5 blue foxes that hits the opponent. I mean you can do the illusion only showing 1 fox that hits, but you don't go as far. Fox has a pretty low mindgame because he is fast, and because of that, he is sometimes easy to predict.

Fox is good, yes, but he has some serious flaws.
His weight/falling speed allow other characters to combo the crap out of him, most characters can chaingrab him.
His recovery is also very easy to edgeguard, one of the easiest to gimp in the game.
He is still a very good character, yes, but he is no metaknight.

Exactly how it sounds.
1. ) Short hop(pressing X and Y quickly, or quickly moving the control stick up to jump so you don't jump as high as a normal jump)
2.) Right when you initiate your jump, press B to use the blaster, if you do it quick enough you fire the laser twice.
Uses for this:
Which you can use this as an approach or to retreat/camp, whatever pleases you.
It's basic. If you have any further questions, ask me.

For the corneria trick (It can actually be done on any StarFox stage with fox or falco) press Down on the D-Pad for ONE FRAME of the game.
Alternately (and easier) you can press left-right-left-right-left-right on the D-Pad for the same result.
Can only be done once per match, and can only be done on StarFox stages with fox or falco.

Corneria Trick: Press down on the D-Pad, in Corneria. Do it for one frame and it should activate.

Jump towards a wall. Then before you hit the wall, push the analog stick in the opposite direction of the way you are moving. Just make sure you have a solid area of wall to jump off of, and watch your timing, but it's simple.

Illusion Edge Stall:
Basically what it looks like is what you'll be doing. (As I side note, if you want to do an edge stall, I'd prefer Firefox.)
Break it Down: You let go of the edge. Immediately after, illusion. It's hard to do if you let go of the edge by pressing down with the analog stick, so I actually used the C Stick here and performed the Illusion as I normally would. That's my tip here. And if you screw up, you're as good as dead, so...be careful.

the wavedash edge thing isnt that great, while your on the edge you can just press R and it'll roll you. It gets you farther and without much trouble

You could press L and it'll roll you on the platform but you'll have to play defensive if that person is waiting. The point of edge wavedashing is to perform any attack in a split second to catch the other person off guard.

Without trouble? You can do it on any ledge, and it's quicker than a roll. It's not about distance, or recovery, it's tactics around the edge to get someone off guard, just like kirbylolz said.
Also, replying to another comment, short illusion is described in this comment area thousands of times, and the Corneria trick is in the video description.

Shield shine? That one is a pain. While you are in your shield, to perform this, you have to press the jump button, but before you jump, perform a shine. The point of the jump is to get out of the shield quicker than just letting go of L/R.
Also, you can do B+Up or an Up Smash out of your shield, but you do not need to jump first.

Fail.
You stop depending on which spot you want too. That's why you see blue figures for the regular illusion.

No...people don't tap it randomly. I'm telling people that there are blue figures where you can stop at. If you click randomly you only get the shortest because there is 1 second to choose. I'm saying people must have timing and not random clicking.

I mastered all of fox's moves, but out of all of the videos I've seen with him, I never see anyone doing the short fox illusion hitting someone. You can go near the edge of a stage do the illusion hitting someone, but not go off the stage.

Purpose for short illusion is mindgame, you can really use it any way, people's response to it varies, so you need to take advantage of that weakness.
It's basically a fake out, obviously not an offensive tactic.
And "that person" you'd want to fight is me, but technical abilities don't mean everything.

When I said short illusion hitting someone is that when you do the full illusion you will see about 5 blue foxes that hits the opponent. I mean you can do the illusion only showing 1 fox that hits, but you don't go as far. Fox has a pretty low mindgame because he is fast, and because of that, he is sometimes easy to predict.
