I saw the film first,& then tried to read the books since the film ends w/ so many open question's. I wish I'd looked to see what age group the books were intended for. I can see where ppl who've read the books might not like the film, but I'm just as disappointed to find that the writing style wasn't to my taste. Which is fine, just frustrating since I was looking forward to having a new series to read.

I'm not saying the books suck, just that the writing style wasn't for me. YMMV

Darren Shan should be ashamed of this piece of shit, if there is a future remake for this, Darren Shan should do what J.K Rowling done and advise the director, pick actors and be a producer on set, I went to see this in cinema when it first came out and i haven watched it since, Its a shame cause people now have the idea that this is the worst vampire movie but in fact if it was properly made it has the potential to be the best vampire movie!

I watched the movie right after I read the last book, and I was expecting so much from a book series that I grew to love so much but in my opinion it just failed on me. But o well I hope that if they make a sequel to the movie it will be closer to the book than this one.

I loved reading the novels and just finished reading the first few volumes of the manga adaptation, which are amazing. I really recommend it if you're into manga and cdf. I'm going to rent the movie tomorrow. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

Really good movie although it wasnt all true :( Darren doesnt have healing spit because he's only half vampire and he cant flit either. It was the first three books in one and sort of a mix of book 7 or 8, im not sure because steve doesnt come back untill then. Correct me if im wrong. Still, great movie and I highly reccomend the books! They are amazing! And also the saga of larten crepsley is out now xDD Also very amazing!

Ok, I love the books, and I also like the movie, I have nothing against it, but in the books, since Darren is only a half- vampire, he didnt have the "super spit", and he also couldnt 'flit' (run very fast)... I just kinda wish they wouldve kept it more original. Although, the 'flit' ability made for a good fight scene between him and his former friend.

I was talking to darren shan at a book fair this morning he said that the movie adaption which he didnt like the most, didnt make anough money and he admited that it was nothing like the book I think he regrets giving univseral the rights, he also said that he has heard from universal that they wont be making another movie on darren, any way i bought his new book birth of a killer which is the first in the saga of larten crepsley there are 4 books in this saga

The main problem about the movie is that they should get more personal with the characters. They should follow the Hollywood-curve - at least at the first step. I mean, we don´t even get to see Steve´s mom. Secondary, Darren is allways styled up, lots of gell in his hair and new clothes almost everyday. They aren´t exactly following the books, which is a bad idea if you´re asking me... The wolfman, the dude with the big forehead and the dude with the big noose - they all look fake.. Agree?

I read the books and I've seen the movie. The whole time I was watching the movie, I didn't feel like I was watching the movie from the book. It felt like two whole diffrent things. Although I liked the books better, I also enjoyd watching the movie.
