@iceebloodviolin The gift of fire is controlled by emotions. And the loss of her child was too much for her to bear, so that was why she became the Black Phoenix. Also this was her very first drama (the actress that plays Sae-oh), so I think she did very well for a novice. That's my take.

i think you are wrong, he didn't give it to her because he loved her, it was because she was compassionate, kind and gentle, while kajin was vicious and all she ever did was cause and start war, she has the power of fire but she can't control it while sae oh can and she is very upright who wouldn't go crazy if your child was drop offf a cliff i would burn the whole world if i can.
