no. Since the premier league began, City outspent united in every season until 1999....When United won the treble, and City were in the third tier of english football. I dont want to let facts get in the way of your argument though :) just consider that you were still outspending united, and while they were winning the league city were knocking it about in the second tier of english football.

United uses their cash differently, they have always been worth a lot of money so they put it into the academy. The 1999 reference is so tremendously invalid because we were recovering from years of mismanagement and bad owners. The whole argument over spending was since the arab takeover but while thats a nice little factoid, its out of place.

What do you want me to say about the 99' thing, its irrelevant to what we were talking about. I made the point that actually they invested in youth instead of just spunking huge amounts on random players. forlan and djemba djemba put together cost around half of santa cruz. Its nothing to do with United having loads more money on City. City wasted their cash, while United were successful, invested, marketed heavily in asia and are now one of the biggest clubs globally because of it.
