    Philadelphia- Average Speed 76mph

    Maimi-62mph

    San Juan-66mph

    Montreal-52mph

    Mexico City-77mph

Los Angeles Red Line and Purple Line-50mph

  • @LoganMulti12 DC metro can go over 80 mph top.

and those aren't average speeds dumbass thats their top speed design.

  • these train average speed is 80 mph. The top speed is 96 mph

  • @tyneandwearmetrofan There isn't anywhere on the BSS where the trains go above 70 MPH.

  • @Great0ne1 how you going to tell me. My Aunt works for the Broad Street Line and she goes over pass 70mph on the express and ridge spur. And you dont ride the broad streel line nomore so take it out your mouth

  • @LoganMulti12 Dude first off I wasn't even talking to you. And 2nd chill out. You take everything about the BSS so seriously. It's a Subway Line not a person chill out.

  • @LoganMulti12 - I wonder if it was your aunt who was the engineer of the Phillies express I was riding?? (see my other post)

  • @Great0ne1 - I was on a northbound Phillies express a few years back where I sat behind the lady who was operating the train. I was able to see through the dark-tinted window and saw the speedometer hit 73 mph at one point.

However, the usual top speed is 55-60 mph.

  • i'm from NY and the subways are big and long! from what i understand, Philadelphia has only 3 subway lines: the Broads St Line, the Market-Frankford line and the PATCO line. i could be wrong and if i am, how many subway lines does Philly have?

  • There are three core subway lines, which you just listed. In addition, there are 8 trolley lines, 5 of which run partly underground. Finally, there is a line called the "Norristown High Speed Line," which has high platform stops, runs on a third rail and is entirely separated from street traffic like a subway but uses 1 car trains, an on-board farebox, and stops on request like trolley.

  • New York City is much larger than Philly so of course the MTA subway is bigger than SEPTA's subway.

  • ten subway lines

  • @DrSurprise 7 lines. 4 subway and 3 light rails

  • @DrSurprise philly has 3 subway lines and 2 are undercontruction since March 11, 2010

  • that express train was speeding

  • Jesus, is it just me or do those bars in the middle make the express trains seem faster?

  • It's not just you.

  • the trains speeding like that is normal. the express trains on the New York City subway also speed

  • awesome meet!

  • Thanks for this clip. I did not even know that Philly had express subway service, until I saw this clip. Talk about city planning ahead right. I would love to ride these trains one day. I was born in NYC.

  • it's spelled ALLEGHENY

  • Were you on the northbound or southbound platform?

  • I miss Philly!!!

  • BEAUTIFULL!!

  • I live in New York wutz da Broad St Subway and iz there really express service too? jus askin

  • Yes, we really have Express services!!!

  • Wuts da service on da Express one and wut stops it skips?

  • Express serves Onley,Erie,Girard, Spring Garden, Race and Vine streets City Hall, and Walnut and Locust Streets. Skips: Logan Wyoming Avenue Hunting Park Avenue Allegheny Avenue North Philadelphia Susquehanna and Dauphin avenues Cecil b. Moore Blvd. and Fairmount (Ridge Avenue).
  • the only good thing about philly iz dat the train and bus cost $1.15, futer dan dat every thing elese iz about murdur and bad news I tought Bro0klyn was bad

  • This is one of the few spots in the North America you can see a train underground go faster than 50 MPH. From my observations these cars top out at 67 MPH.

  • yea i noticed they go fast, you would think more people would ride.

  • @trainluvr no its 74 mph

  • @trainluvr no 76mph

  • Wanna be NYC subway! lol

  • lol that was funny

  • I don't live in the States, but express subways are quite interesting though.

    Quite fast, I would say.

  • You should add "Septa" as a tag. The BSL rocks!!!!

  • This is the best thing I ever seen in my life. Please make a sequel.

  • I've observed train speedometers hit 67 MPH on this line, topping NYCT normal top speeds of low 40s by about 50%, a comparison worth making since NO PLACE in the world has 4 track local-express trunk operation like NYC except for this line in Philadelphia, the Broad Street Subway.

PS: Videonut should view the entire clip before commenting.

  • I've seen the clip many times!!!!!!!1

  • i live in NYC and i have seen trains going 55 MPH at one point

  • @20thcenturyLTD 74 mph

  • and it's Allegheny

  • Division A's faster anyway.

  • uhh, that's the local.
