@jackass00world haha that might be one of the funnier comments ive read in a while. even when all else goes to the shitter in america, we still got or cars :)
when i was growing up my father picked up a 1975 suburban silverado with the big block 454ci v8 at the time he was useing it for picking up cars with his car trailer to fixing them up and then selling them for a few xtra bucks we had it for many years and i dont ever remember haveing any issues with it other then it being a gas pig and i hated the wood grain sideing
Had a 1990 Suburban, too. Had over 300,000 miles and even managed to get slightly better gas mileage than my Taurus that I had before it. Only thing that went wrong on it was the ignition module, which wasn't unexpected given the southeastern heat and the accumulated miles. Easy to repair.
Unfortunately, I had to sell it when I didn't need such a large vehicle. Fortunately, it went to someone who could use its utility.
Helps if I read, lol. At least you have the 12 bolt.
Drop the glove box door and look at the RPO codes, if you see a G80, it has (or had) a traction aid in the rear axle which would most likely be an Eaton locker.
The easiest way to test that locker if to find an RTI ramp or something to climb up on with the front tire. Drive up in 2WD until one rear tire lifts. Then, using light throttle, spin that rear tire. If you hit 100 rpms with the tire, and it has the Eaton, it will lock up.
If you got the grenade lock, be careful with the throttle, especially if you just have a 10 bolt. The fact that you could climb out of there with a dismounted tires leads me to believe that you got a locker in back.
wish i had one this year model.....mine is an 86 with the newer front fenders/grille. i paid $800 for mine, 350/700R4/3.48/2wd 1/2 ton. no rust, fully loaded, all i need to fix is the a/c
hahahahahah that is badass! fuck toyota lets see em do that for 400 bucks. i had a 1980 chevy with a six inch lift 35 in tires under it and a bitchin 350. i got it for 700 bucks lol. my other truck is a 72 chevy with a 250 6 and i drove it home for 250 dollars. chevy kicks ass they give the most bang for the buck!
@theawesomone the early 90s was when it started happening, then chevy made them all sissy and soft until we ended up with the current sorry excuse for a burban
@cst10dlx i agree, i have a 94 burb, 1500 silerado with the 5.7 350 in it and i run circles around our familys 2010 silverado both in speed, gettyup, offroad and cargo/passenger capacity. plus the ole 94 looks 10 times better.
those are the coolest vehicles!the cheep 4x4 ones.i got a running cherokee w/ the i4 and 5 speed, and it even had a straight front axle for $200.definitely would rather pay $400 for a sub though.Go chevy!
bad ass sub i want one so bad just like that with a standard tranny i have a 1980 2500HD chevy pick up single cab long bed with a SM465 with a 5.52 rear end
My crappy new one can do all that as well though. all i did to it was run 33" mud kings.
I do agree though, I like the old ones better. Mine is a tad smaller all the way around compared to my old 88 burban. It seems to wheel just as nice though.
same deal with my truck baught it for 400bucks and shes been loyal ever since saved her from the scrap yard put less than 100 bucks into her to get her runnin and she goes fine as a daily driver A/C even works all i did was charge it

I have a 99' burban. I love driving through heavy snow with mine. It just pushes everything out of the way.
These things are so heavy, they could force a TEFLON tire to get traction.
