  • same courtroom/ house used in To Kill A Mockingbird lol

  • oh my goodness, thank you for uploading this.

  • To everyone here: OF COURSE Mitchum is great in his role. He played Reverend Powell in Night of the Hunter. He was great in both roles

  • Why am I getting only part 1 ? The one with Mitchum. I did see it in 1962, and it was far better than the remake with DeNiro being as disgusting, and filthy as possible. I love the guy but I prefer Mitchum and Peck. Mitchum was made for the role. I met his brother, and he said "Bob is the sweetest, kindest man I know.," Hard to believe. lol

  • I think the reason that most people now prefer the newer one is because that they were able to show more violence, be more explicit with it than in the '60s. There were probably a lot of scenes they had to improvise with on, because of the censors. Obviously this would be very scary to a young person in the '60s since they are not used to such violence on film. But I like Gregory Peck, he's an amazing actor and a real gentlemen...or so I've heard. Shame he died.

  • @VirgiliaCoriolanus There were many very violent films throughout the 60's. It was a very extreme and volatile time both on and off screen. This film chose to be more artist in it's depictions of brutality and not simply go for the sensational/graphic. And for that it is a much more engrossing and successful film.

  • Classic movie, classic score and classic Robert Mitchum....pure dirtbag! He walks right by the lady without helping her when she drops her book.

  • mitchum plays auch a great psychopath.

  • No one should be let out of jail for rape, especially child rape. May they rot in hell.

  • I would say that De Niro's character in cape fear is so brutal and rough

  • many thanks for posting this wonderful movie!

de niro's cape fear ia also a good one, but this is even better and is really worth watching

  • im sorry but u cant do any better than these guys and the music is great too!

  • If someone could explain the twenty dollar bill (bad, it seems) joke... i may not be the only one who doesn't get it.

  • @rbuss1956 Though she is married he is bribing her to sleep with him for a $20 spot...Da creep :)

  • @rbuss1956 he is saying with the 20 that he can buy her for that - he makes her feel cheap and dirty - just what that sort of pig of a man likes doing

  • There's something so cool about Robert Mitchum!

  • 7:32

    his laugh is priceless -

  • thanks soo much for posting!awesome quality :D

  • Only the good guys can be that bad....robert mitchum=creeper!!!!

  • 1991 version is the best ! De Niro is just outstanding !!!

  • love mitchum...thanks!!!

  • wow. thanks a lot.

  • Both versions are brilliant. can't decide.

  • Robert Mitchum always oozes confidence. Prefer him as the goodie tho cos he was a good guy in real life so it imo suited him.

  • You gotta love the look on the waitress' face when Mitchum hands her the cash ^_^

  • It's funny, that Mitchum never looks angry in this movie. He always does impressions of a potthead :)

  • both pretty good movies. i like de niro's cady better for a bunch of reasons. plus, i think its kinda funny that the first thing they do to inroduce him as a villain in this movie is to have him not help a lady pick up her book lol

  • is that girl just very short and young and he's tall?

  • Great film. Heavily cut on its release in the UK by the censors, considered pretty violent for it's time. Peck and Mitchum are perfectly cast in this.

  • The remake was good, but for some reason, I much prefer the original.

  • Love this version! The remake is good too though.

  • A masterpiece of 1962. So much better than the '90s remake!

Gregory is so handsome that leaves me breathless and Robert is the best Cady we could ever have.

  • @Bebe7077 amen. not to mention herrmanns brilliant score.

  • Robert Mitchum is the only one acting in this movie. The rest just deliver their lines with a fucking stone-face.

  • @BigDog91527,

Yeah, but Peck is still one of the greatests. But the acting in the remake was superior to the original.

  • @thelupoistheman1 "The acting" in he original,by Hollywood Royalty, can not even be argued,to do so would be to make your statement credible, instead of foolish. You can not compare apples to oranges, they both stand alone in their class.

  • @Bebe7077 Remakes always have a bad time. Iam sure they were aware of it in 1992. Its an age thing, if you see the 60s version first then that becomes the best.

  • @mcwolfus - What a ridiculous thing to say,and think.Well maybe to you it's a habit. I saw the Original Godzilla,FIRST.........But the later Godzilla with Broderic Crawford, was far better.....????????

  • @billy1212ist Whats ridiculous? What habit??Generally a remake of a very sucessful film will be judged partly based on a comparison with the original. Your experience was different, and that is your experience.

  • [iminent=BdBRn7YVffOB] @billy1212ist raymond burr dumass

  • @Bebe7077 which robert?

  • @kingcaesar5

    Robert Mitchum, of course!

  • Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck, two of the greatest film actors of all time.

  • Robert Mitchum <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • Imagine how sensational and shocking that Twenty Dollar Bill scene would have been in 1962! It really establishes Max Cady as someone unspeakably depraved.

  • I think both the remake and the original were excellent films. Terrific acting, beautiful cinematography, outstanding music from Bernard Herrmann and both Mitchum and DeNiro were equally fantastic as the antagonist Max Cady. Peck, however, is the much better Sam Bowden than Nick Nolte.

  • I thought both were really superior films but for entirely different reasons. Scorcese's

because of the visuals and cinemetography. This because of the straightforward story and Gregory Peck.

  • original vs remake arguments aside, the star of both films is composer Bernard Herrmann

  • @gammacurve,

    Both are terrific films.

  • @thelupoistheman1 Agreed..not sure why I be seeing hate for the remake...its one of the few remakes that are as good or better than their original films.

  • @gammacurve Well said.

  • This is a GREAT Film! Gregory Peck could only see Mitchum in the role. Mitchum said he did not want to do it; that is until Peck sent him the script and a large bottle of whiskey. By the time he finished both, he was in.

Peck knew that Mitchum was the only actor that could be as quietly menacing as he is in this film. Polly Bergen admitted to being scared out of her mind, by Mitchum in the houseboat scene. That is why it looks so real. It was real fear. One take. Cut. Print. Love it!

  • Genius music. One of my all time favorite scores. Love Fantomas' rendition of it.

  • @b1tbomb It sounds so much like the Sideshow Bob theme from The Simpsons. I know they did an episode based on this film.

  • 2:54 "Come close to discuss it more privately" and then starts the shady hush-hush...

The system boasts with what is supposed to be the openness of a public trial and at the same time nobody is bothered by the practice of "more private discussions" between judges and lawyers. Very "opened" really...

  • I love how the 1962 one has 1000 views, and the 1991 has 70,000. Yet this one is 1000000000000000 times better!

  • @xxxSelenagomezfanxx Don`t be surprised by the fact about "1000 for the old-70 000 for the new". It would be more surprising if it was the opposite. Isn`t it logical that the quality viewers will be a way less than the average ho-hum blockbuster movie goers?

  • @tyzhen This my remark, however, concerns my different attitude to the old and the new film-making only in principle, without specific relation to that movie here.

As for "Cape Fear" I think not only the remake, but even the original is "too much ado for nothing" - except for Robert Mitchum`s part.

Both the 1962 and the 1991 versions are cliche-ridden, conformist, simplistic "good vs evil" story that says nothing worthy or new ; and in many aspects even tastes more of schmaltz than of fear.

  • @tyzhen I know. Thats just my opinion that this one is better. I understand what you are trying to say though.

  • Thank you WYoubee21 very much for sharing.

  • Thanks a lot

  • GREG is supreme but mitchum isn't good

  • @atticus26

Disagree, I think Mitchum is absolutely brilliant, menacing all the way throughout the film. You could not get a more believable bad guy.

  • @badgerfaye charlie chaplin

  • @titusville4life

What a great compliment for Mitchum, to be compared with a great actor like Charlie Chaplin. Mitchum would have been delighted!

  • @badgerfaye think about it no one could be more scary then Charlie Chaplin

  • Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! Everytime I go to purchase this movie it's always the cruddy remake! Thank you thank you thank you!

  • Thanx for putting this up. Just watched the re-make and thought it was good. Wanted to see how this one was.

  • why so many little views
