@StrykerKun I agree this is stupid. I was hoping for like 5 different builds instead of one super skill like WWbarb or Hammerdin. My first diablo 2 character was a concentrate polearm because i wanted to be different. The character sucked and i had to respec to cookie cutter wwbarb :(

You people are idiots, this game will beat the shit out of Diablo 2. No Skill/Stat points is an awesome thing because you won't be able to screw up your build and with the rune system and only 6 active skills you still will be able to customize your playstyle. This is a good thing, you'll be able to focus on enjoying the game instead of researching forums/web for hours to decide on your 'perfect' build. In Diablo 2 a lot of people spent more time planning out their chars than playing the godamn game...
@wonszlol I'm starting to like the rune/skill system, but you seem to miss the point of choosing stat/skills, planning the build IS playing the game, it's where lives a lot of the fun, if you're into RPGs... what people are complaining it's the proximity to plain action/hack n' slash games... if you just want to smash a button and see monster dying there's a lot of other IPs around, that's not what Diablo was about. Not saying D3 it's going to be bad, it's just... =\
Sorry but I disagree, in D2 I had to spend tons of hours researching the webs about builds, I had to think about what gear I want to use at end-game even before making a character, I had to add into some skills I never used just because of some stupid syngergies to make them effective...so much fun... but you are right about one thing, this won't be like Diablo 2, this will be much better ;]

I enjoyed a lot making my wacky builds that, most of the time, worked (at least 'till hell)... of course the system was faulty, and 12 yeas later I would expect improvements, even an overhaul, but removing it altogether!? It's not Diablo anymore, it's an action game with an inventory system. Will be an exquisite polished game, obviously, but it's not Diablo. Funny thing is that I liked almost every other aspect of the game...
In newer games like this I don't like that they try to over exegerate action by putting over flashy moves, it kills pleasure all you see is flashed and too much things moving, its should be more balanced on that
would you like to play counter strike if you had rocket launcher that can shoot with speed of rifle,and jump 10 m in air and run 50km/h , and to look more like unreal tournament, it would be annoying watching all million details moving and flashing around.

Could anyone clarify one thing for me? I do understand that the skill tree will be removed but does it also mean that there will be no leveling of skills? So the only way to improve your skills would be through runestones?
@TheWiiHunter Yes , builds will be based on Items sets. Diablo II system did not bring variety as one kind of build was incredible overpower over the others and was pretty dissapointing reaching maximum level to realize your character is shitty and you will have to start a new one in order to be top tier.

1. There will always be an optimal build. In D2, get strength needed for weapon, get 75% defence to have a good block amount, NOTHING in magic power, and then rest in vitality. Sounds like a great customization system.. not. The developers want the type of character you want to play decide the stats. Then you also have gems and enchantments. The other problem with skill points is the perfect mathematical solution.

Unfortunately all the videos that I saw for this game has this graphics. What do you expect from a game that is like 20 years ago? More bad news. Blizzards is cutting out all the gold farmers and making the gold Bind On Pick Ups, so you would have to buy the company's gold from its endiess generator. And there is no SOLO PLAY without connecting online. Save your money and buy Star Wars: Empire At War for $9.98 at Wal-Mart. At least you can play offline without register online.
@hq78 Do you know ANY math? There will also be 6 different runestones, thus the combo with each skill will give a specific skill-result. This given, by each setup of 6 skills, you can have 30 (5*6) different setups. Furthermore, there are in total around 30 different skills (depending on class), which gives the amount of different "6-skill setup" to be 593 775 (30 C 6). Therefore the different amount of skill-setups that can be made is 17 813 250 (30*593 775).i.e nearly 18 million skill-setups..
I don't know why it's so hard just to keep all the things in diablo 2 to diablo 3 such as waypoint, tp, skillpoints and such. the offline and open battlenet is also great as well as it allow players to play by themselves or use hacks to make ultimate item for open battlenet. The armor is off. Diablo should have big thick gritty primarily western style armor. Bright Mardi Gras colors don't really inspire a feeling of being a demon killing bad ass.

Also It kinda good that they change things. I mean comeon I don't want to play Diablo 2 just with better graphics and a slightly different story. I want some new features and try out things. Maybe I like the new skill point system, though currently I think that it's a very very bad move.

@congruent2006 in case your too dumb. 5 runes x 50 skills = 250 re arrangeable 6 different ways for VIABLE builds. Not counting useless builds at all. Which d2 had millions of Useless builds that couldn't do dick.
I'd still like an offline only character just in case one day I don't got internet. So I can continuously play the game to no end without interruption, except for outside-house duties and power outages. Work with me, Blizzard, I still want to really love your game, but you're making it harder.
I kind of like the changes, sounds like a gigantic improvement over Diablo II which was the case with the original Diablo. Diablo II was just leaps and bounds ahead of the original in terms of game play. Diablo III looks to be fixing a bunch of problems before the even occur. The only thing I dislike is the 3 passive skill thing...they should have given us 1 every 10 levels because nightmare and hell are probably going to require extra passives to be effective...my only peeve really.
well i don't know about this no skill point system tho it did make sense when it was explained, and i think that the auction house is gonna go belly up real fast especially with the fact of using real money, either way i think i gonna like the game and just like any other bliz game it may change with a patch

Why do so many people forget what the game is about, as soon as using real money comes into play? First off, it's an AH, just like in WoW, only payment methods differ. You can't just buy anything you want. You also guaranteed have to be of a certain level to buy the good stuff. Second, story and PvP combat are huge in this game, much more than D2, so people claiming RMT AH ruins the game simply don't know what they're talking about and hate Blizzard for making money, since that's unfair somehow.
As for me, i will only spend real money on gear if its a year and a half after release and im coming back from like a 6 month break and i just wanna have fun and spend 30 bucks on the items rather then going out for the odd thing of sushi.
im also down with the game being fully online. just means less duplicates/botters. plus there is still the normal ah of paying with in game gold which will be of decent value.
over all d3 will be a great game and i for one cant wait for its release.
since i can here is my 2 cents. Being a fan of the entire diablo series and torchlight i must say the game is looking very good. The removal of skill points i dont have any beef with. it just means the game will be an item/gem grind and not a lvl grind.

Point is all games are exploitable, blizzard is making this online only so they can track ALL gameplay. And so what if they found a way to make money without having to charge monthly? This way they can provide the game to everyone for a 1 time fee.
@msbensucks i agree with all except for the "track all gameplay". its online only to deter hacking. by making it online only hackers can't freely exploit the game files on there computer or run programs they make to try and dupe items or corrupt the system. sure hackers will eventually figure out certain ways after awhile. but it makes it 100x harder. and makes it so they can easily find them and ban them.

I dont know how this is really all going to effect PVP thats the only thing i care about, a real money auction house will change pvp of course- but blizzard allready said Diablo 3 is going to be based on teamwork as a priority, pvp isnt the main part of the game. Its going to be a whole new game + the original team that made diablo 2 is gone, they went and match Torchlight.

I dont know if I like the free switch between skills and at Lv24 u will have all your 6 active skills what about later on? in D2 u were 24 after u finish the game in normal what about nightmare,hell,inferno? after u reach 24 and get all the skills u can get u will loose interest of lvl more.. at least that's how I see it in D2 u needed to reach 90+ to complete a specific build for example Blizz-Sorc what about now?

You can still choose your skills and customize your individual skills with special properties.
If you really care about what level of customization is available, get your info from the Diablo 3 website, not from a six months old video.

Diablo II system did not bring variety as one kind of build was incredible overpower over the others and was pretty dissapointing reaching maximum level to realize your character is shitty and you will have to start a new one in order to be top tier.

1. There will always be an optimal build. In D2, get strength needed for weapon, get 75% defence to have a good block amount, NOTHING in magic power, and then rest in vitality. Sounds like a great customization system.. not. The developers want the type of character you want to play decide the stats. Then you also have gems and enchantments. The other problem with skill points is the perfect mathematical solution.

Blizzards is cutting out all the gold farmers and making the gold Bind On Pick Ups, so you would have to buy the company's gold from its endiess generator. And there is no SOLO PLAY without connecting online. Save your money and buy Star Wars: Empire At War for $9.98 at Wal-Mart. At least you can play offline without register online.

@hq78 Do you know ANY math? There will also be 6 different runestones, thus the combo with each skill will give a specific skill-result. This given, by each setup of 6 skills, you can have 30 (5*6) different setups. Furthermore, there are in total around 30 different skills (depending on class), which gives the amount of different "6-skill setup" to be 593 775 (30 C 6). Therefore the different amount of skill-setups that can be made is 17 813 250 (30*593 775).i.e nearly 18 million skill-setups..

I don't know why it's so hard just to keep all the things in diablo 2 to diablo 3 such as waypoint, tp, skillpoints and such. the offline and open battlenet is also great as well as it allow players to play by themselves or use hacks to make ultimate item for open battlenet. The armor is off. Diablo should have big thick gritty primarily western style armor. Bright Mardi Gras colors don't really inspire a feeling of being a demon killing bad ass.

darnnn I liked skill points and with that the chance to have thousands of different characters. Removing singleplayer wasn't smart, too, but it's not THAT dramatic. It looks like they destroyed some of the fun, but I will still buy it. A gigantic plus is that market system and other features. WILL STILL BUY x3

I kind of like the changes, sounds like a gigantic improvement over Diablo II which was the case with the original Diablo. Diablo II was just leaps and bounds ahead of the original in terms of game play. Diablo III looks to be fixing a bunch of problems before the even occur. The only thing I dislike is the 3 passive skill thing...they should have given us 1 every 10 levels because nightmare and hell are probably going to require extra passives to be effective...my only peeve really.

Why do so many people forget what the game is about, as soon as using real money comes into play? First off, it's an AH, just like in WoW, only payment methods differ. You can't just buy anything you want. You also guaranteed have to be of a certain level to buy the good stuff. Second, story and PvP combat are huge in this game, much more than D2, so people claiming RMT AH ruins the game simply don't know what they're talking about and hate Blizzard for making money, since that's unfair somehow.

As for me, i will only spend real money on gear if its a year and a half after release and im coming back from like a 6 month break and i just wanna have fun and spend 30 bucks on the items rather then going out for the odd thing of sushi.
im also down with the game being fully online. just means less duplicates/botters. plus there is still the normal ah of paying with in game gold which will be of decent value.
over all d3 will be a great game and i for one cant wait for its release.

since i can here is my 2 cents. Being a fan of the entire diablo series and torchlight i must say the game is looking very good. The removal of skill points i dont have any beef with. it just means the game will be an item/gem grind and not a lvl grind.
As for the real money AH.... (points at every human playing an mmo/game like diablo) ur the reason they are doing this. its like a guy saying he does not jerk off. he does, he just refuses to tell you the truth.

Blizzard makes money every single time someone sells something right? Yeah. So finally by the time expansion 3 comes out, how much will everything be worth? People buying stuff from each other in a pyramid with constant devaluation to older items because of the amount of players that will then be power leveled.

Point is all games are exploitable, blizzard is making this online only so they can track ALL gameplay. And so what if they found a way to make money without having to charge monthly? This way they can provide the game to everyone for a 1 time fee.

@msbensucks i agree with all except for the "track all gameplay". its online only to deter hacking. by making it online only hackers can't freely exploit the game files on there computer or run programs they make to try and dupe items or corrupt the system. sure hackers will eventually figure out certain ways after awhile. but it makes it 100x harder. and makes it so they can easily find them and ban them.

I dont know how this is really all going to effect PVP thats the only thing i care about, a real money auction house will change pvp of course- but blizzard allready said Diablo 3 is going to be based on teamwork as a priority, pvp isnt the main part of the game. Its going to be a whole new game + the original team that made diablo 2 is gone, they went and match Torchlight.

I dont know if I like the free switch between skills and at Lv24 u will have all your 6 active skills what about later on? in D2 u were 24 after u finish the game in normal what about nightmare,hell,inferno? after u reach 24 and get all the skills u can get u will loose interest of lvl more.. at least that's how I see it in D2 u needed to reach 90+ to complete a specific build for example Blizz-Sorc what about now?
