@cheokech1 not at all, it was Al-Omawia Empire in Damascus. is only called as Syria during Britain and France occupation so Syrians are mixed of Semitic Arabs,Aryans,Romans,Persians....etc and they all speak arabic ,However there is different between Arabs and Semitic Arabs (descended from Abraham)

@AdemaLevel oh realy? Maybe you need to check your history and how 90 percent of countries and people who speak Arabic today, had their own language and culture before Muslims conqured them and forced them to speak Arabic.
The real Arabs were a semetic tribe from Saudi Arabia. Syria, Lebanon, Egypt etc were all ruled under different empires before Islam. Thats why they the population varies alot in appearance because they are a Mix of so many things. No such thing as ARAB race.
