Haha, a video with homework at the end, love it. Thank you old episode of Lovejoy for bringing me to this again, its one of many weird and wonderfull songs I had just presumed my Grandma used to make up many happy years ago :)
I'd just like to interject for a moment: what you're refering to as a h'elk is in fact a g'nu or, as I've recently taken to calling it, the g'nicest work of g'nature in the zoo.
@anniechippie well a lot of my friends dont actually have long enough attention spans to actually listen to a song all the way through. Really one of m friends got me into it. I don't know.. I suppose try getting them to listen to one of F&S's funnier songs (maybe Wom Pom?) but if they can't appreciate it then still listen to it and enjoy it!! As they get older they'll learn to appreciate it.
I am 14 years old and LOVE all things Flanders and Swann (hence the name). I think I was born 60 :L I've got some of my friends into it as well as Tom Lehrer, so hopefully the revival of Flanders and Swann is iminent XD
I am in the same situation- 14 year old born 60, but i only seem to be able to get one friend to apreciate the music, so i can't listen to it when they're around. How did you get your friends interested?
I'm 18. My parents used to play these songs to me all the time when I was young, so I've grown up to love Flander's and Swann. It did disturb me a little when I got to the age where I understood that Madeira M'dear was about daterape. :P
Silent letters prove so problematic for students of ESL that it is a delight to be able to show them a soothing selection of natural scenes accompanied by a gentle (self-)mocking piece of Michael's peerless prose and Donald's delightful accompaniment. An excellent idea, beautifully executed.
I made an error, and acknowledged it in the very first comment, but if I made perfect videos what would people like you have to complain about? I wouldn't want to rob you of your raison d'être.
no problem, you ARE right though, I really SHOULD fix it.. but then i'd have to track down all those Gnu pictures again, and wait for it to render etc.. and then I just sort of "meh" and forget about it. *lol*
Sadly todays generation of so called experts were not alive when Flander and Swan made these recordings - and they ( the X-SPERTS ) think they know everything
A terrible pity that you don't have the full intro that explains about the large American car parking in his handicapped space on Scarsdale Villas, with the license plate that starts with GNU.
Oh and by the way jamiefindlay, I first heard this when I was 11, I was at a performence of two people doing the Flanders and Swann songs.
We bought "At the drop of a hat" from the performence that day, the real one by Flanders and Swann. (Btw hehe just uploaded this song didn't realize it was already up)
@hamstersar you rock! You ought to have joined my family's car trips when I was a child - my sister and I would sing along with these with all our hearts as young children :)
yes, that's what I mean.

get ur timings right at the start of the verses

brian, sirstrong didn't make it.
It's a British comic song, you maybe wouldn't understand. These comic songs are meant to be ironic and not follow the rules of music.
