  • My dad made a recording of this song and others from some tv show about 1967.

    Anyone interested?

  • I'd just like to interject for a moment: what you're refering to as a h'elk is in fact a g'nu or, as I've recently taken to calling it, the g'nicest work of g'nature in the zoo.

  • im a gun

  • @anniechippie well a lot of my friends dont actually have long enough attention spans to actually listen to a song all the way through. Really one of m friends got me into it. I don't know.. I suppose try getting them to listen to one of F&S's funnier songs (maybe Wom Pom?) but if they can't appreciate it then still listen to it and enjoy it!! As they get older they'll learn to appreciate it.

    P.S

All of my friends listen to chart music. :LLLLLL

  • @jamiefindlay1

I am 14 years old and LOVE all things Flanders and Swann (hence the name). I think I was born 60 :L I've got some of my friends into it as well as Tom Lehrer, so hopefully the revival of Flanders and Swann is iminent XD

  • @ImAGnuHowDyouDo

I am in the same situation- 14 year old born 60, but i only seem to be able to get one friend to apreciate the music, so i can't listen to it when they're around. How did you get your friends interested?

  • This song was really gnice. Thank You for posting it!

  • I named my eBay account from this song back in the day. What a song.

  • g-enu genu genu :D

  • I'm 18. My parents used to play these songs to me all the time when I was young, so I've grown up to love Flander's and Swann. It did disturb me a little when I got to the age where I understood that Madeira M'dear was about daterape. :P

  • I was typing in random letters because I was bored, and this came up!

I want this song on my iPod! :)

  • w-who's w-who XD

  • I sung this in primary and failed to understand the true talent of this song ;) LOVE IT.

  • Haha! Richard Stallman, googled it! I'm a Linux user and I love the GIMP and SourceForge! Yay! That's funny!

  • @kagomeshuko You mean a GNU/Linux user, right?

  • Remember the animated Ty-phoo tea ads that featured this song?

  • "I'm a g-nu, a g-nother g-nu" This one brings back childhood memories for me!

  • Silent letters prove so problematic for students of ESL that it is a delight to be able to show them a soothing selection of natural scenes accompanied by a gentle (self-)mocking piece of Michael's peerless prose and Donald's delightful accompaniment. An excellent idea, beautifully executed.

  • Good one.... they are so clever Flanders and Swann!!!

  • I made an error, and acknowledged it in the very first comment, but if I made perfect videos what would people like you have to complain about? I wouldn't want to rob you of your raison d'être.

  • sorry, lol - i guess i shudnt complain - im even worse most of the time lol ;)

  • no problem, you ARE right though, I really SHOULD fix it.. but then i'd have to track down all those Gnu pictures again, and wait for it to render etc.. and then I just sort of "meh" and forget about it. *lol*

  • @sirstrongbad Well... I like it

  • lol "I haint a helk...I'm a gnu..." very funny

  • Superb!

  • Subject: inside colon rugby union

Anagram: Your Code bio - Inn gnus nil

  • Have a Listen to my Video Response of Flanders and Swann's song "The Ostrich". Its totaly bonkers but very funny. :)

  • I wonder if these guys invented Gmail?

  • So does one need a license to have a gnu?

  • *LOL* yes and theres a gwaiting period!

  • i always thought this song was g'nice

  • my favourite of their songs i think! thank you for the pics of gnu's.... no idea what they looked like before i saw this :-)

  • i sang this when i was in year 4!! it is a brill song a fun one that anyone can enjoy :) XD

  • Me too!

  • G'brilliant.

  • I hadn't heard this one before, and I like it. The pictures of gnus were very gnice too!

  • anyone got a recording of tom paxtons - the mail will go through, or thank you republic airlines?

  • hilarious

    wheres eating people is wrong??

  • I've been looking for it - it is called 'The Reluctant Cannibal'. Can't find it on here, though!

  • i <3 Flanders and swann

they are two of the best comidiens from the UK

its a shame that some people can't appreciate things like this :(

BUT I LUV EM' ANYWAYS O.o

  • Jesus! Thats some Sexy Gnu's you got there! Amazing! I'm drooling allready...

  • Sadly todays generation of so called experts were not alive when Flander and Swan made these recordings - and they ( the X-SPERTS ) think they know everything

  • Although there's nothing like firsthand experience, I would never limit a person's intelligence to the time of their birth.

  • "A Gunuther Gnu", I love this.

  • Brings back childhood memories, this one!

  • Why is it a slideshow of wildebeest?

You should have done elks :P

  • it hain't a helk!, its a gnu! :)

  • if you sang ths- good one but you did rush !!!!

    amazin tho

  • It's the original.. or at least the original Flanders & Swann...

  • @samwellomar wildebeest and gnu are the the same animal.

  • A terrible pity that you don't have the full intro that explains about the large American car parking in his handicapped space on Scarsdale Villas, with the license plate that starts with GNU.

  • Cheers for this one! This song just screams "childhood" at me! It's a shame it's so unknown.

  • I sang this this in a music class years ago!

  • Oh and by the way jamiefindlay, I first heard this when I was 11, I was at a performence of two people doing the Flanders and Swann songs.

We bought "At the drop of a hat" from the performence that day, the real one by Flanders and Swann. (Btw hehe just uploaded this song didn't realize it was already up)

  • brian, sirstrong didn't make it.

It's a British comic song, you maybe wouldn't understand. These comic songs are meant to be ironic and not follow the rules of music.

  • Thanks a lot from the Gnu Brotherhood (Barcelona branch)

  • They are so underrated these days! Most people under 40 have never even heard of them. Thanks so much for putting this on

  • I had never heard of them until I was told to sing The Hippopotamus Song for a college music class. Now I can't get enough of them this team!

  • I'm sixteen and I love them!!

    There's hope yet! ;)

  • @jamiefindlay1 I'm proud to say that I'm 17 and I know every word of every one of their songs!

But yes, you're absolutely right, VERY few people under 40 have ever heard of them. :(

  • @hamstersar ha im 14 and i first heard them (and loved them) when i was 12 =) <3

  • @hamstersar you rock! You ought to have joined my family's car trips when I was a child - my sister and I would sing along with these with all our hearts as young children :)

  • Hmm... I apologize for the dead air. I'll re-edit when I have the chance.
