heh! heh! heh! it was weird at first but i've never seen Beethoven done in this light. it was nice and somehow refreshing. can't stop grinning, guess that's the effect of the song.
@Odiin666: Not that have been released, though the background music to one of the menus on our DVD is Rick playing Bach. I (Matt, vocals & guitar) have recorded some Back, Mozart, and others in my home studio in the past for fun. I hope to have the band do more "classical metal covers" in the future.
Wow! Thanks for all the nice comments people! We had a blast playing this (this was our first time ever) and we did end up recording a studio version on our 2008 release, Deathanity. It can be found on many online retailers as well as iTunes. \m/ \m/
whao this is amazing but apparently there are 95 retards out there that dont like this so maybe they should develope this thing called taste anyway THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!(the previous statement was in no way intended to offend retards lol)
I would sooo buy this if it was in a store.... Parent's don't let me buy anything off the internet :S I actually found these guys while doing some research on what the members of Sonata Arctica have been up to lately. +1 fan courtesy of Tony Kakko XP
@runawayscreamingWEEE It was in local stores in Baltimore, MD but I have a feeling that wouldn't help you. If you have an iTunes gift card, you could get it from iTunes. Unfortunately you miss out on the booklet, but at least you could hear the whole thing (and you'd be supporting the band). Tony Kakko did an outstanding job on the track he sang on! Thanks Tony for finding a fan for us! ;-)
since i saw one of the band members posted here, just wanted to congratulate u. very nice to pay homage like that. whatever music u like, things are just what they are. and beethoven is God
Thanks to all who are enjoying our video here! Its awesome to see such overwhelming positive response to something that we worked so hard to prepare at the last minute! I really like the arrangement too (Matt, the other guitarist arranged) & think that Beethoven would've loved today's modern instruments. The electric guitar would've been perfect! While the main theme is quite easy to play, the beginning and end are pretty difficult - especially as a band. This was our first time performing it.
I collect clasical music with arragements for electronic instruments, you`ll be srprise how beutiful they sound. i love classical music, but i also love rock. It's on my blood, so thank you so much for uploading this piece of holy damn shit.
People don't know, but Beethoven was the first one to rock the horns.
On a more serious note, he was one of the first secular composers, along with Mozart.
Bach was purely about God. I wonder if he was shown distortion, would he call it the devil's music like people did in the 50's? Or would he incorporate it into amazing masterpieces?
The main reason that Bach was a non-secular composer was that he worked for, and was commissioned by the church. In the Classical era, more people hired composers to compose secular music for them.
Even assuming he wasn't dead, he'd still be deaf, so I'm pretty sure there is no way he'd find the music spectacular. He might be amazed by the WIZARDLY COLORED LIGHTS though.
The answer to this and all questions asking what Beethoven would've thought is this: He wouldn't even care, because he was stone deaf when he wrote that damn song!
I think there needs to be a studio version of this released, preferably as a single. (I'd buy it) Or maybe as a part of a larger album in which you cover other classical works
@arandomperson240: We only have this live version from our DVD up here. We are an independent band that self finances everything we do, so believe it or not, "a nickel" would be nice. So if you like the music, please, support our cause and buy the CD, mp3s, DVD, or whatever else you're willing to do. :)
I would have found the theme at 1:00 better played by the rhythm guitar and hear the lead guitar do some obligato riff - but that said, you do just that at 2:13-2:40 and again at 2:45. I guess I'm saying that it is better to sit out the lead during that first verse for a little variation.
Matt Brookins (band leader and owner of D2C Studios) did the audio mixing, the video editing, and the DVD authoring. You can get the DVD off the band's website. :)

I'm an old dog, I must admit, so I have had plenty of exposure to passionate music.
It's not rebellious, it is a natural that the marriage of metal and classical music should go together because the passion alone drives the unity.
For God's sake, release more of this f*cking music.
