  • this is sooo cool

  • heh! heh! heh! it was weird at first but i've never seen Beethoven done in this light. it was nice and somehow refreshing. can't stop grinning, guess that's the effect of the song.

  • this is too fucking cool. thank you for making me see beethoven in a new light.

  • jizz in my pants

  • LVB would approve!! 2 thumbs up!! Check out our acoustic duet of this "Immortal" classic!

  • the magic happens at 1:00

  • I'm an old dog, I must admit, so I have had plenty of exposure to passionate music.

It's not rebellious, it is a natural that the marriage of metal and classical music should go together because the passion alone drives the unity.

For God's sake, release more of this f*cking music.

  • I have a huge smile on my face right now. This is awesome. Would like to hear more. :D

  • very nice job!!! thumbs up :D

did you make any other classical metal covers??

  • @Odiin666: Not that have been released, though the background music to one of the menus on our DVD is Rick playing Bach. I (Matt, vocals & guitar) have recorded some Back, Mozart, and others in my home studio in the past for fun. I hope to have the band do more "classical metal covers" in the future.

  • @OdinsCourt yeah that would be awesome if you do a few more!

you did a great job on ode to joy.

  • Wow! Thanks for all the nice comments people! We had a blast playing this (this was our first time ever) and we did end up recording a studio version on our 2008 release, Deathanity. It can be found on many online retailers as well as iTunes. \m/ \m/

  • The drummer has nice foot work. Also, as of 11/6/10, 96 people clicked the wrong button.

  • nice bass line

  • I was SOS looking for this piece in metal form. It was driving me crazy. I found it. I love it it, ROCK ON!!

  • Kick ass version! I like you used a keyboard... I think Beethoven would use it :D

  • Kick ass version! :D almost the entire movement :)

  • whao this is amazing but apparently there are 95 retards out there that dont like this so maybe they should develope this thing called taste anyway THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!(the previous statement was in no way intended to offend retards lol)

  • now that was sweet dude

  • this is awesome :D

  • These guys made Beethoven sound way better than the original one is.... since new technology has been brought.. WOOOOO!!

  • I love it. Though it may not be a perfect translation from orchestra to rock, it still delivers the same message.

  • Fabulous!!! Love it!!

  • You're GODS!

  • I would sooo buy this if it was in a store.... Parent's don't let me buy anything off the internet :S I actually found these guys while doing some research on what the members of Sonata Arctica have been up to lately. +1 fan courtesy of Tony Kakko XP

  • @runawayscreamingWEEE It was in local stores in Baltimore, MD but I have a feeling that wouldn't help you. If you have an iTunes gift card, you could get it from iTunes. Unfortunately you miss out on the booklet, but at least you could hear the whole thing (and you'd be supporting the band). Tony Kakko did an outstanding job on the track he sang on! Thanks Tony for finding a fan for us! ;-)

  • I can feel my life improving as i watch this....thanks for posting

  • Beethoven is like Shakespeare, of the people! Anyone who enters into his music in any form gets it. Glad I happened upon your portion. Thank you!

  • Needed a few seconds to recognize it.. very cool.

  • its nice version but the original is perfect

  • So awesome! 10/10!

  • This is amazing ! :D Here its truly seen that Beethoven was writing metal songs ! :D

  • i'm sure Beetoven would be grateful that his work passed down through the ages. the guy who wrote Scarborough Fair must be happy too.

  • This is great :)

  • this is amazing!

  • i believe Ludwig Van Beethoven is smiling up there from heaven wearing a Ray Ban!

  • Decent work, but I have to say TSO did it better :D

  • This is like my 3rd time watching this....and I just now noticed the bass starting the melody!

Damn, this is one of the finer rock versions of Ode to Joy out there!

  • Impressive........very impressive, I am literally amazed.

  • XD nice

  • Cool shit guys! This is my first song to learn on my Master guitar program I got for christmas, I'm going home tonight and rocking out.

  • This is awesome.

  • beethoven would be proud

  • I bet he'd also be pretty freaked out the first time he heard this haha

  • IoEstasCedonta

what lyrics would go with this dude???

    its perfect as it is.

  • try including the choir then that will sound even more epic

  • What lyrics would...

Um...something along the lines of "Freude, schöner Götterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium...," that sort of thing.

  • since i saw one of the band members posted here, just wanted to congratulate u. very nice to pay homage like that. whatever music u like, things are just what they are. and beethoven is God

  • Thanks! :)

  • Magnifique !

  • Just once, I want to see a band do this song with the lyrics.

  • chapeau!!!

  • Thanks to all who are enjoying our video here! Its awesome to see such overwhelming positive response to something that we worked so hard to prepare at the last minute! I really like the arrangement too (Matt, the other guitarist arranged) & think that Beethoven would've loved today's modern instruments. The electric guitar would've been perfect! While the main theme is quite easy to play, the beginning and end are pretty difficult - especially as a band. This was our first time performing it.

  • this is brilliant. i enjoyed this.

  • I collect clasical music with arragements for electronic instruments, you`ll be srprise how beutiful they sound. i love classical music, but i also love rock. It's on my blood, so thank you so much for uploading this piece of holy damn shit.

    you rule!

  • B R A V O ! ! ! !

  • Epic would be a severe understatement to this.

  • i came buckets

  • People don't know, but Beethoven was the first one to rock the horns.

On a more serious note, he was one of the first secular composers, along with Mozart.

Bach was purely about God. I wonder if he was shown distortion, would he call it the devil's music like people did in the 50's? Or would he incorporate it into amazing masterpieces?

  • The main reason that Bach was a non-secular composer was that he worked for, and was commissioned by the church. In the Classical era, more people hired composers to compose secular music for them.

  • Bach would transform to become the Hendrix of classical music. He will live hard and die fast, eventually OD'ing on some skooma.

    Fuck year JS Bach

  • way better than the japanese band

  • That was AMAZING!!!

  • awesome i can play this on flute and recorder i taught myself how to use a recorder

  • I can see Beethoven headbanging to this

  • speechles man

  • this is awesome :)

  • Beethoven's always been the rocker type.

  • i think a lot of classical composers would be into metal if they were alive today!

  • They would fix it up too. Not to say Metal is bad. Just today it's kind of crappy. This was okay though.

  • is ode to joy the name of this band or who are they it looks like the scorpiond

  • learn to read xD

    Odin's Court performs Beethoven's 9th Symphony,

    !! xD

  • bethoveen would have moshed his ass off to this

  • awesome!!!

  • VERY NICE

  • This is NICE

  • Nice.

  • This is awesome. I agree. I think Beethoven would find this spectacular

  • Even assuming he wasn't dead, he'd still be deaf, so I'm pretty sure there is no way he'd find the music spectacular. He might be amazed by the WIZARDLY COLORED LIGHTS though.

  • LOL

    great comment i'm LMAOing

  • I'm sure he'd find the music interesting being one to deviate from the norm anyway this "satan worshiping" music would probably peak his interest

  • Can some one tell me the name of this Rock Band please. THANKS

  • hmmmmm i don't know, check the info? The first 2 words.....

  • does anyone know where i can get accurate guitar tabs for the intro of this?

  • Beethoven is timeless.

  • Few people know this, but Beethoven was the first one to rock the horns! Dio just copied him.

  • Thanks for reply, rock Beethoven to the future and back love it all Ian

  • this is the most amazing version that I ever heard.

    Pedro

  • I wonder what Beethoven would have thought of this version, I think he would love it!

  • The answer to this and all questions asking what Beethoven would've thought is this: He wouldn't even care, because he was stone deaf when he wrote that damn song!

  • love it want, to change Ode to Joy on my daughters Christening video to this version LOVE IT, JUST LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Perrygodmother: See him in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure!!

  • I really love it, almost makes me want to grow my hair long and become a rocker, this is genius!!

  • Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome

  • amazing

  • awesome performance

  • i never heard guitar version of it so 5 stars

  • Dibs on that idea Hollywood screenwriters.

  • Would B say WTH...as his audience said of him?... or...would he say

    I get it. : )

also would he say "bring me back so I can add to rock?"

  • freude schöner götterfunken

  • Fuck yeah.

  • wov :)

    So cool :)

  • I think there needs to be a studio version of this released, preferably as a single. (I'd buy it) Or maybe as a part of a larger album in which you cover other classical works

  • A studio version is available on the album DEATHANITY. Major retailers, online vendors, Minddawn, and iTunes all have it. :)

Also, someone put the studio version on YouTube if you want to check it out...

  • I guessing you don't care about it being up online since most bands only get a nickle off of record sales...

  • @arandomperson240: We only have this live version from our DVD up here. We are an independent band that self finances everything we do, so believe it or not, "a nickel" would be nice. So if you like the music, please, support our cause and buy the CD, mp3s, DVD, or whatever else you're willing to do. :)

  • GUIARTEST is awesome this is so sick ( in a good way )

  • the guitarist is good

  • wow!!! you make me want to dance!!

  • cool

  • what band is this anyway

  • Just Epic.

  • Wow.. Beethoven for ever! We just have to admitt that we can´t get over his music!!

  • 5/5 well done lads!

  • haha fucking rad. i'm studying for a music test and ode to joy is probably going to be on it.

  • Tight.

  • If you think about it, Classic Music was the 1st Metal music ever!

It was loud, powerful and at times very controversful!

  • Awesome!!! indeed lol.. nice stuff

  • Cool!!

  • Awesome!

  • Beethoven threw the horns.

  • Beethoven went deaf after head banging to this several hundred times.

  • best comment on YouTube

  • Whatever some old mummies would say, I'm sure Beethoven would love this !

  • Or maybe not, but he would be delighted to know that his music is so famous :D

  • Fantastic! Nice work guys.

  • Classic- Head banging to Beethoven- who would of guessed- Excellent performance and interpitiation. Thank ypu and keep up the good work.

  • Einfach genial, obwohl mir persönlich der Anfang oder das Intro, was auch immer, nicht so sehr gefällt. Aber trotzdem im Ganzen nicht schlecht!

  • hey what are the other classical music which had rock versions? this is awesome!!! :)

  • Check out Toccata and Fugue in D minor. There are a ton of guitar videos on YouTube.

  • AWSM!

  • Great to see some modernized Beethoven fans. The worlds best musician is BACK!!!

  • and its amazing how good classical music sounds on "modern" instruments like el-guitars and such!

  • This is as faithful as a four-minute cover can be to a twenty-minute original. They sampled all the major themes. Good work.

  • this kicks ass!

  • I would have found the theme at 1:00 better played by the rhythm guitar and hear the lead guitar do some obligato riff - but that said, you do just that at 2:13-2:40 and again at 2:45. I guess I'm saying that it is better to sit out the lead during that first verse for a little variation.

  • is there tab for this?

  • You do not need tabs. Hear at the music and play it the same way.

  • ...nice...

  • Word of advice- learn to read music. Tab is great and all, but learning to read music will help you own the neck.

  • Who made and edited the video? (Not the audio, I know that was Odin's Court.)

    Also, this sounds awesome!

  • Matt Brookins (band leader and owner of D2C Studios) did the audio mixing, the video editing, and the DVD authoring. You can get the DVD off the band's website. :)

  • awsome

  • Now play it with a six hundred piece choir. Quite epic. Do Ride of the Valkyries next!

  • hey Matt! pretty damn kickass version! \m/ keep on rocking!

  • I like when Ritchie Blackmore does it too

  • wow...XD

  • if anyone likes this (it is pretty damn interesting) then listen to a symphonic recording of Beethoven's Ninth---specifically ode to joy---Beethoven and others of the time were the "heavy metal" of their day.

Vivaldi and his "Four Seasons" is another good example.

I love metal, but sometimes classical just does it for me...and quite a bit of it is fantastic at LOUD volumes.

  • I have always loved classical music and a metal head... people could never understand how a person could like 2 such different types of music..

they really are not that far off of one another.

    Awesome stuff guys!

  • Well, me to, just not mixed together.

  • wow, I usually don't like simphonys, but this, this is incredible!!!!!!

  • great!!!!!

  • Simply Beautiful!

  • so godly i had to cry manly tears of metal

  • audience rocks ... ô_o

  • Bill & Ted's tribute to the classical masters.

  • -.- yes...bravo bravo indeed

  • awesome the dudes got an ibanez

  • this is.......fucking awesome!!!!!

  • yh in the first few sec i tought that it was shit but then its ok...just great

  • its....beutifull....

  • all music derives from classical music, this is a great rendition of this peice. to bad people are so closed minded. Just because it does not sound like what they know does not mean that the music is not good. I like it!!!!

  • in the first 15 secs they look like metallica Oo

  • outstanding

  • AWESOME!!!

  • go go wyld stallyns! i mean odin's court

  • I agree
