Mike was a fantastic broadcaster some of his handovers to Ron loebeck were so funny he is so missed in the South East when Meridian took over the franchise and sanitised the news it was a sad day for all.Where ever Mike is now i wish hiome well !!!
Wow, truly moving footage of Mike at his best. I never saw this at the time but I stumbled onto the tale recently on google that he'd made the national press over this story and his public breakdown on live TV.
Mike really was the greatest presenter ever known. I miss him. There was never even an announcement he was leaving or retiring he just seemed to become part time and then vanished!
I wish we could have him back again, he was SUPERB and had a connection with the people!
He was a fantastic broadcaster and he was abused as a youngster and thank god for the likes of him prepared to take on the authorities .His sense of humour and banter with Ron Loebeck wasone the best comedy acts on Tv .That is why TVS and Coast to Coast South East won the awards they did .There entire style was comical ,entertaining and profesional.
Blimey! Well done to Mike Debens there, his co presenter didn't look too keen on the situation either. I'd loved to have seen this while it was live on air, I bet it was quite gripping.
I wanted to give mike a hug. I bet the TVS switchboard was jammed. TVS and coast to coast won the royal television awards for best regional three times. The BBC only won it twice in 30 years. We lost this responsible broadcaster thanks to thatcher and the ITC.
Must have been just before my time - lived in the area but got Thames/LWT. Moved later, Mike Debens dropping the professional mask eh! Who'd have thought it! Good Man! That was a bit of a "Radio Active" edition? With 'Two Mikes' presenting?

Agreed all. Grew up with TVS and Mike was a cornerstone of it. Ron Loebeck was a bit of a star too. Sold him some watercolours once.

Mike - as a TVS presenter - is one of the most memorable faces of my growing up. I'm so pleased to see so many clips on YT of him. Sorely missed.

Good on you Mike Debens! He should be working for Social Services. At least he seemed to care for children

Well done to them. I feel jealous now that I lived in London and didn't get TVS.
