  • that's a good view through the scope it's hard to get rid of the scope shadow sometimes with the camera I kept waiting for the gun to go off :-)

  • now i understand that neck shot a few years ago @ 40yrds. :P

  • no shooting ?!!!!

  • I have this on my .223, has worked fine for me.

  • wait, can someone tell me if paralax is good or bad lol? i know that eotechs and aimpoints are paralax free, so is this scope not good, or what?

  • @IrishPride691 Parallax-free is better because you don't have to worry (as much) about lining your eyeball up precisely with the center line of the optic. In the video you see an inch or so movement of my 'eye' (camera) translates to an inch or so of movement of the crosshairs at the target...even though the rifle isn't being moved at all. Most scopes have a specific range they are designed to be parallax free, but we can't always choose the range of our target.

  • Whats the best l96? WELL, TSD, UTG, AGM?

  • I am going to buy a scope and a gun, for the scope, should I have the mildots ? I am choosing between a leupold vx 2 and a nikon buckmaster or a redfield

    (Are they called mildots)

  • @kenyanblast depends what kind of gun. what caliber. depends if ur shooting paper targets. Depends if your hunting with it. Etc etc etc. Best thing to do... In m y opinion. Is what i do. Set a pube on the rear sight. Before you fire, lick the pube. And see if you can get a magnification affect through the saliva on the pube as you peer down your sights.

  • Idk if anyone already said this or not but most scopes and red dots aren't parallax free until 100 yrds unless otherwise stated.

  • is this scope good for just shooting for fun gamo scope 3-9x40 ?? with zoom effect :D

  • Just recognized that i have same scope in my .22 :)

  • @valttu94 I think it's a perfect .22 scope. Someone earlier said they had one on a .300 H&H, but i'm not sure it will hold up to that kind of abuse. But on a .22 (.22WMR in this case), yep.

  • @valttu94 you have a scope IN your 22? Make sure you take it out before you fire it, you could blow the barrel up and hurt yourself or someone else.

  • @mycaddigo Mounted

  • @valttu94 (:

  • would this be good for deer hunting

  • hey i am going to get this scope and am curious if i need high or medium mounts?

  • @trekce9 Sorry, no clue. I think i have medium mounts, but I think it would depend on the profile of the barrel and receiver. What are you planning to mount it on?

  • @trekce9

when you buy a scope They will tell you what mounts you need. Always go for a mount that gives the minimum clearance (ie. least distance to barrel).

  • whats the farthest the 3-9x40 can go from what i can tell 400 yrds but thats from guess when i heard the 9x50 goes 500 yrds, but rather look stuped and ask then just assume and find out i'm dead rong.

  • @harpy2010 The '40' or '50' just says how big around the objective lens is (the one facing the target), and influences how bright the sight picture is. It doesn't really have any influence on range. The '9' is the magnification factor, which is more important when you're talking range. Either way, there isn't going to be much difference between something at 400 yards and something at 500 yards. They are both going to be 9x bigger than what they look like without the scope.

  • so is it bad if i dont get one thats parallax?

  • @skaterg807 You don't want parallax.

  • @jcims why not?

  • Nice demo. To elaborate on jcims comments, all scopes have parallax. It is the adjustment to have the reticle (close to the eye) appear focused on the same plane as the target (far from the eye). Scopes are adjusted to be parallax free at a set distance usually at 125 or 150 yds. The closer the distance, the greater the visible error. On short range rifles such as 22 rimfires a parallax setting of 50 or 60 yards is often ideal and the longer settings can easily open up group size considerably.

  • What exactly does parallax mean while talking about optics?

  • @Lexesbenz Basically the change in the image as your point of view moves. In the video, the rifle is stationary, however, as i move the camera around, you can see that the crosshairs in the scope move around the target. Even though the real point of impact of the bullet has not changed, the point of aim changes because my camera (or eye) has changed position relative to the scope.

In a parallax free scope, i could move the camera around, and the crosshairs would stay perfectly centered.

  • @jcims

Understood, thanks for taking the time to explain it to me.

  • @jcims

the fact that the focus isnt set at the right distance causes parallax distortion correct ?

  • @tuttoz Parallax is related to focus, but not in the fuzzy/clear sense. It has to do with where the reticle physically sits in relationship to the focal point of the objective (front) lens. Since the focal point is related, in turn, to the distance of the object to the objective lens, it's all kind of tied together.

Google "scope optics parallax" without the quotes and hit the first link at 6mmbr dot com. It has a diagram to explain it.

  • @jcims

    oh ok thanks ...

  • @MegaCinny1 The 40 and 50 are a measurement of the diameter of the objective lens (the 'far' end of the scope) in millimeters. All else being equal, a larger diameter objective will collect more light and result in a brighter image. All else is rarely equal, however, so I would get behind both to see what they actually look like.

  • How much zoom was that in the vid?

  • @dirtyminded604 Good question, pretty sure it was 9x.

  • noo .. que sarpado!! buenisimo!!

  • do u thinka scope with 3-9x40 scope would be good for sniping at 200 fps max?

  • @TheAirsoftgroup I think you would have the best luck with a crossbow scope. They are meant to handle more drop than this would, and provide multiple horizontal lines in the reticle to zero at different ranges. This Simmons is a great little scope, but i think it's best suited for light guns at >1000fps.

  • And your point was?

  • out of all the scopes i own, the simmons scope is the worst.. I have pistol scope and the paraxxx is massive un less you are at the excact range-- too much to handel.. up for sale now

  • maybe if you put the camera at the proper eye relief this wont happen;)

its when you dont see the black around

  • @SANDYBOWLS

No, it does it no matter where you have your eyeball. The problem when you *do* have your eye at the correct relief is that you have no point of reference (aside from cheek weld) to know if you are looking straight down the tube. If you back off a bit until you see the black 'halo', that actually gives you a very sensitive point of reference. Try it sometime with a cheap scope, you might be convinced. :)

  • How good is a 3-9x40 on distance ?? I have one that came on my 30-06 but I thought it was a piece of shit since it came with the gun..

  • @mixwell1983

I haven't used it past 100 yards...it's certainly not a 'great' scope, but I think it's a great value given the relatively low cost. I don't know how long it would last on a .30-06...probably about long enough to save up for a keeper...lol.

  • @mixwell1983

Forgot about ESSAYONSMFER's comment below, looks like it might hold up ok!

  • I have on eon a Remington &@! (300 H&H MAG. It holds zero quite well and has nice clear optics. I won't be replacing it any time soon.

  • Good to know it can take a licking. I really like the scope, for the money it's hard to beat.

  • which zoom setting was this on? also what distance can you see broadly and clearly on the 9th setting. i may buy a scope i just dont know what nagnifications i want

  • what kind of gun are shooting....I always choose a good scope depending on type of gun and what terrarin or range i will be shooting it at

  • 100-300yds... I want fast targeting and stuff tho too. Im stuck between a Leupold Mark AR and an Aimpoint Comp ml3

  • i dont belive thats parralax, i believe what ur seeing is normal, on a 3-9, there shouldn't be parralax. looks fine to me. parralax is more prevelent in rimfire scopes.

  • that is about as bad as it will get out to 100 yards , since it is probably set at zero paralax at 100 yards, I can live with that for 50 bucks.

  • Absolutely. It's a bright scope with a good reticle and seems to hold zero fairly well. The little 'tip' about backing out and centering the dark halo works very well to reduce parallax, i won't be replacing it any time soon.

  • can y put a scoper an a airsoft dragunov rifle?please reply!!!!!!

  • MTC Viper best 200 pounds you could spend.

  • i it when it does that.

i say sell that scope and get a us optics ST-S T-PAL, Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm LR/T M1, Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30x50mm or a Zeiss Conquest scope. abit pricey but the parallax adjustments are good. ;)
