  • This stuff controlled my life, but the thing that 'cured' me, was changing the rules.

    The rule is:

If I put too much effort in performing an action, something bad will happen to me/someone else.

So the actions are 1 sec long max. This really saved me.

  • So inaccurate. You don't think about it, that's why it's called a "compulsion".

  • @auro1001 Right. You just do it. But I had to tell it to the audience so they have a real understanding. I hope you now understand.

  • I have Obsessive Comulsive Disorder, but I also have cats in my house. So when I use the refigerator, I have to shut the door and check the inside several times to make sure a cat hasn't snuck in. I do this all the time.

  • Ive had ocd for since i was about 11..did get treated till 12.and they pulled me out of school for it so i could go to treatment..treatment worked and i was back in school..NEVER went away just got better..now its alot worse and everyone notices it..i do shaking with my head..numbers..and ALOT of other stuff..ive tried so many different medicines and none seem to help..so i guess im just stuck like this for awhile..im 14 now..

  • @Maxakiller Hang in there. I am 46 and I have had OCD since I was 13. It never goes away completely for me, but I fight it everyday. Try doing what I do. When you get a compulsion, ignore it and try to think of something else. After awhile you will realize that that you did not give in to your compulsion and nothing bad happened. It is tough and I don't always succeed, but when I do it feels great.

  • @xxtyops thanks im trying.I cant Imagine doing ocd for that long,so i really am sorry.i want to be a police officer when i am older but honeslty with my anxiety disorder i dont think i can..i went to the mall last night and could barely walk.and ive tried resisting and when i do it seems i think about all the bad things and everything and when i do it im sorry to say but it feels great..my mind thinks about all the good stuff and it seems everything goes my way

  • @Maxakiller Don't let OCD stop you from achieving your dreams. Take small steps to getting better. Make yourself stop one small thing at a time. Remember, nothing bad will happen. It is an anxiety disorder. All it can do is cause anxiety. The more you resist it, the less anxiety you will have. You will feel fear, but it will pass. Do you have a hobbie or something that interests you? Get more involved in that. Get your mind busy on something fun or productive.

  • @xxtyops well ive played football baseball and basketball since i was 7 but all of that has stopped now..quit football early in the season this year..quit baseball last year..and stopped doing basketball 2 years ago..my family and i main focus was for me to go to school and thats it.and i just lost all interest for sports..i told my mom i needed cyber school for the past 2 years and she is now listening..but all of my sports are gone..so now i just play on the computer..sit at home..

  • @Maxakiller Sitting at home gives you too much time to think. Sounds like you need a hobbie. I know when my mind is busy, my ocd bothers me less. maybe you should get back into a sport again. keep yourself more busy. Thinking too much was always my problem. I started running and it helped me. Get yourself busy with something you enjoy.

  • @xxtyops ive tried but football seems on no interest anymore..basketball season is over and baseball doesennt intereest me..my brother plays highschool football and works out alot..so maybe ill start going to the gym with him..that would help my mind and body..xbox and runescape(computer game) sometimes take my mind off of it but i still do it ALOT during those 2..my guidance councelor always said idk what triggers it when you play that..the trigger is my mind thinking about it..like you said

  • @Maxakiller Get your mind busy and you will be amazed how little ocd you do. Don't give up on becoming a police officer. You can do it. I used to be a lot worse off than I am now. I never give up. You shoudn't either.

  • @xxtyops A hobby is a great release from OCD. I started drawing and I am so involved that I have no OCD. I only notice when I stop my hobby that I was having no thoughts of OCD. I first noticed that I did not think about OCD with my first job as a camera technician that I was so in tune with my framing and technical abilities that I never thought of OCD. It is interesting once you notice that.

  • @margaretsen Good for you. That's fantastic. Keeping your mind busy on something you enjoy is the key I think.

  • @xxtyops and when i go out it just gives me anxiety..its not like im not popuar either..i have many friends and stay in touch with girls..but honestly i dont want to be bothered by girls or friends..this is what my moms afriad of if i get cybered..not being social but i will try..

  • @Maxakiller You need to be with your friends. If they are true friends, they will help you through this. Get out and socialize and keep your mind busy on things that interest you.

  • @xxtyops thank you and i will keep trying..thanks to you i will start looking into hobbies=)appreciate it!

  • @Maxakiller I wish the best for you. Don't give up on your dreams.

  • @xxtyops Thanks and i wont

  • I've had OCD since before i can remember. my parents told me i used to have to walk out the door a certain way. i would walk towards the door and then walk back and do it again over and over. I don't even remember doing that.

  • I have to say that this video was very realistic in what it feels like and thoughts someone has when you feel the feeling of 'it has to feel just right'. Many congratulations for making a great video to show others what it can be like at times.

  • @shereen229 NO ITS OCD IDIOT. I HAVE IT

  • 1) how can a door be closed wrong?

    2) if the door is closed "wrong", why will something happen?

  • that's funny. I just kind of did that today. except I havnt been diagnoses with OCD.

  • My brother does that.

  • iiallwaiis feel like dis

  • I feel you a lot.I have this too.I hate it so much.

  • I had to check my alarm clock like 20 times if it was set right before i went to sleep... so annoying!... though im over it now :D

  • whoa it's scary because I have almost all the compulsions in the comments like tapping, touching with both hands, perfecting remembering stuff, making sure I read sentences properly again and again and a fixation with a number - 60. Uh-oh, looks like I've got OCD worse than I thought. I also have to line things up correctly.

  • i hate even numbers apart from the number 28 because thats the date i got together with my boyfriend and i feel its lucky, i also have a problem with touching things with both hands so it feels balanced... is that strange? x

  • @kathrynnc no. i don't think so. i don't have numbers, but i have to hold the same weight in both hands sometimes. when i touch one eye on one of my stuffed animals, i have to touch the other eye too. OCD is so annoying!

  • I hate all odd numbers un less they add up to an even number. But not if 7 is one of the odd numbers

  • i think i have ocd because i just feel the urge to place something cold in the middle of my hand.(weir)

  • I've done things very similar to this. I find a good way to help is to slam it shut angrily as hard as I can, litterally tell my OCD to "FUCK OFF" and run away so I don't have to look at the door in a sense that isn't right for no aparent reason...

  • I do this.. But not as vocalised as Ashmaker said.

When I am playing a song in my head if I say one line wrong, I'll have to start over. And over. And over.

Also, yes, I have a number -- 10. I NEED to do it 10 times or else I'l get a bad day or whatever. 15 just to be sure.

And I constantly get horrific thoughts of hurting others physically and mentally, it's really terrifying.

...Just so you guys know you're definitely not alone.

  • I thought it was normal to do this... I go through phases where I have to do something an odd number of times or an even number of times :/

    It's so annoying!

  • oh my..i'm perferctly like this.. i have numbers and everything..

i want everything to be in their proper places, even the smallest details..

    i repeat actions and thoughts..

i hate ocd..but i'm afraid to tell my family and friends about it..

  • Try marijuana. It helped me with my OCD. Get your medical marijuana license today! read this article about someone else who had the same problem. forumgrasscitycom/medical-marijuana/42286-marijuana-ocdhtml (just copy and paste that into google cause you cant post links on here). It really and truly helps deal with your anxiety and rituals. I used to have to look at something 8 times or more until i got it right. i was exactly the way u were in the video.

  • shiit. :S maybe i have something like ocd? when i read a book & i read one word wrong, i read that sentence like three times, but i know the word & i actually don't need to read it again & i just can't concetrate to read further.

  • im a righty. my ocd makes it so i try to be left handed. im now starting to do everything uncoordinated with my left hand.

  • PERFECT example of what I go through 24/7/365.

  • My OCD started with the belief that I didn't like females anymore, then coming to the assumption that I must like males instead. After this realization (which I was entirely grossed out about - hence the OCD aspect of it), I tested the theory endlessly (in my head). I was trying to disprove the theory...a theory that I knew wasn't true, but couldn't shake the belief that it might possibly be true. It was horrible. I went from a normal 17 year old to a thinking-about-suicide 17 year old.

  • This is the kind of OCD I have and I hate how it takes over my life :( but I'm too scared to tell my parents!

  • OCD really is like this. the fridge always irritates me

  • that is exaaactly what it's like too..

  • that was an excellent illustration of OCD, great job on the video

  • @davidw121314 im the same way like the girl in the video, it doesen't feel right when i don't shake my hands or roll my eyes i just feel like i have to do it or i won't feel right

  • wow this is just like me but isntead its for numbers like 6 13 and all numbers with a 6 in it or that add up to either of vthese numers or thingss of that nature

  • i have o.c.d i twitch alot & i feel like if i touch somthing i didnt mean to touch i have to touch it again in tha same way or i feel like somthing bad is going to happen o.c.d is serious & ihate it

  • i understand how you feel

  • @davidw121314 sometimes i find that i do stand there and try to reason myself out of doing a compulsion....i try to make myself realize what i am doing is pointless and stupid. In a way that is questioning myself

  • omygoodnes i have the same thing , i thought i was alone .... omygoodness this is strange to me

  • people like this just dont know how to walk away i use to have ocd then I just stoped

    its just that easy

  • its bugs me how she grabs the handle. germy >_>;

  • @ojewel nope. its not ocd unless you have obsessions and the complusions you cant just have one...nice thry though

  • Since I was a child, I have always tried to do things an even number of times. I didnt know this was a diagnosed problem until I watched a show called 'obsessed'

  • i also dislike the number three..more likely im afraid of the number,

somehow i relate the number three to the color red which,i also fear.

then the color red turned into a triangle. now i hate #3,the color red and triangles.

i cant even concentrate when the teacher is using a red marker on the board and i get all messed up in algebra i just mess up my mind with adding all the numbers together. i haven't been diagnosed with OCD but i'm 100% sure i have it.

  • @magthxbai47 So funny o.o.... no it's not but i dislike numer 3 too and i rly hate the colour red, cuz it's like blood. idk about the triangle, but if i dident do things 4 or 5 times i was like somethig bad would happen. I'm not doing things over and over anymore, cuz i was getting crazy, and i was trying to make it go away, now i only have voices in my head when im alone s:

  • imagine if someone like her. (hateing the number 3) That found themself at the year 3333 at 33 years of age on the 3rd day of the 3rd week on the 3rd month at 3:33 pm....

I think i just fried my mind.... 0_0

  • This has happened before with me but it was different

  • lol.

  • i don't do this with doors. i do repetitions while i'm reading but my thoughts kind of run parallel with the girl in the video.

  • STUPID GAY SHIT!!!

  • MY NUMBER IS 4 OR 8 3 is evil so is 6 !

  • I feel you girl.

I trying to get rid of ocd, but therapists are to nosy, and coudlnt help and are to expensive for me

  • Accurate, though rarely do OCD sufferers get a choice at the beginning. This is what makes it especially frustrating.

  • They should call this "The bullshit disorder"

  • @LittleBigKRATOS uhm, thats really offensive...bc it ruins ur life...

  • @eemmmmaa1616 : Bull shit

  • @LittleBigKRATOS nope. they cant help it, its a mental disorder.

  • @eemmmmaa1616 : I want to buy one of this girls

  • I like anything that deals with food. Good representation of people with OCD. There is great help for it. This help can be found in several places, including on solutiontherapiesonline. -c-o-m There are some treatment clinics as well.

  • Luvox is a medication for OCD try to google it...

  • @soul76can I have tried that medication. It worked the best of all, but it still made me not myself. I am much better now, I think because of cognitive behavior therapy and time.

  • @margaretsen maybe you should try cannabis. i have. it helps you shed light oon the way you think and therefore gets deep into the fears of why you think this way. it really does resolve it and you learn the true nature of yourself. it comes back now and again but you can cope much better because its a learning process. when we learn our subconscience creates mechanisms to eliminate intrusive thoughts. ocd is just fear and understanding the nature of these fears eliminates them.

  • @soul76can Thank you!! I have been wondering of a very effective medication to treat my OCD

  • @davidw121314 I know init, This is what I go through aswell, And I hate it when people walk past when I am doing it, because they will think i'm weird. It drives me crazy!! :( I used to think, when I was younger, that I was the only one that had it, because I didn't know what it was at the time, I just kept touching things a lot of times and closing the door a few times than nessisary, But, It was only recently that I descovered it was attually a mental illness, OCD :(

  • just like me :/ kills me :P

  • @davidw121314 with all due respect i had ocd for 5 years now and i believe that people do question themselves, their is probably people who dont but this is from my perspective since i question myself 75 percent of the time

  • I respect u and can understand the pain of OCD>

    i have Pure O.

  • Yeah, it's like you have this feeling of being incomplete or not right and you can tell yourself that it is OCD and recognize it but it doesn't stop the intrusive thought patterns and feeling of incompleteness. :(

  • Holy sh*t. This is spot on, except for the step part, can't relate to that. Anyone try Luvox?

  • @soul76can Whats Luvox??? (I have to do 3

  • @soul76can Whats Luvox??? (I have to do 3 ??? by the way, sorry :( )

  • I know what the problem is. She should have given it a really hard kick closed first time round.

  • @Uniformconsistency nope. you dont get it.

  • I dont have certain numbers in general, though 15 is one I always avoid. The refrigerator door is one of my sticking points, as well as blowing my nose on each side an equal number of times, and also drying my hands on a towel very often feels wrong as I am putting the damn towel back. my OCD has morphed into more of a conversational OCD: someone says something illogical to a point I make, I feel like I HAVE to point out to them that their comment missed my point. I just cant keep it in.

  • I avoid 5 or any number with a 5.

  • Does that mean i have OCD? Coz i suffer from really bad anxiety, so bad that i have selective mutism which means i cant speak to most people coz my anxiety is that bad. And i do things like the fridge thing. And if i feel like i've done something that isnt right i'll feel really bad about it for ages, or i'll do it again :/

  • I have OCD really badly, too. I have had it since childhood and it's awful. I have a fear of contamination, a fear of fat, a fear of disorder. My house is sterile and spotless and I don't even sit on my own couches because I don't want to mess them up. I have no food in my cabinets. I have to spit a lot and pray obsessively to ward off bad thoughts. It's hard to walk through doorways or to unplug things or turn anything off or on. I check everything over and over.

  • Margaret is wonderful. This video has helped me so much. I'm not a hoarder or have to wash my hands a lot. This is the type of OCD I have. Magical thinking and it sucks to have to do these things, but you know that's OCD for you.

  • Comment removed

  • I have OCD but I dont really have a number, to me its like if it doesnt feel right then I gotta do it again till it feels right and i cant just walk away or I feel like something bad is going to happend. And I also physically cant walk away cause its as if that voice in my head is pulling me back to do that thing again till it feels right. Very good video :)

  • @gaaradeiara101 To me, its like, the number that feels right, but the number changes all thee time, at the moment the number, for me, is 7, because theres 6 people in my emideate family plus my dog, and after 7, it feels right. And It feels like, if I don't do it the certain amount of times, then I think something bad will happen to me, or someone close to me, like me dieing, or being killed. :(

  • @gaaradeiara101 i have a number n it is the same as the video i hate the number three n if i do something three timess ill feel sooooooooo wronggggggg like something badd is going to happen , myt favorite number is fourr so if i do something wrong two timess like she did ill have to do it again two times n if i do itt wrong thoose two timess ill have to do itt again four timess cause 2+2+2=6 buh 2+2+2+2=8 , 2x4 =8 , 4+4=8 , itss weirdd buh itts wah i go thruu ,

  • @gaaradeiara101 I have numbers i cant do it to

  • @gaaradeiara101 I do that as well, but I had no idea it could be OCD :O

  • @gaaradeiara101 oh for me it has to be an odd number between 1 and 20. NEVER even. If it's even or I end up going over 20 I have to like redo what ever I did before than and then do the odd number thing.

  • @gaaradeiara101 dude! I thouhgt i was alone! THATS EXACTLY how my OCD is. but i do not like the number 3.

  • Ok to all of you; Yes OCD is real I have it OCD can NOT be cured, IT IS NOT IN YOUR HEAD. OCD is an Anxiety disorder. The reason why she had to close the door the "right" way and it had to be a safe # cuz it gave her Anxiety. OCD blocks of the "fight or flight mode" chemical in your brain which will cause the person to panic. Look it up before you start putting your 2 cents in!!

  • AMEN AMEN AMEN!

  • i use to have to do things always four times when i was little i wanted to always pick the even numbers.weird

  • Just as before....

"Jesus is fake. Go away you stupid naive christian"

How can you be stupid enough to believe in a 'good book' made by man.

    It's a huge scam.

  • @Nihlathak12

Your insults are pathetic! Pick up your game!

  • They are not insults. They are intelligent and uhh.... correct statements.

  • Clearly you guys don't know much about OCD... an illness like OCD isn't because of a misdeed...it's because of genetics and any number of things that happen in the brain

  • For those arguing about why would Jesus give OCD to people: He didn't. The Bible explicitly explains that man suffers due to his own misdeeds. Why a child is born with medical problems, we don't know, but many times, it is still due to the fact a misdeed was done, such as alcohol or drug abuse. whether the parents did it or an ancestor a few generations back did it, it can still happen. Regardless, man suffers due to his own stupidity.

  • Shut the FUCK up.

  • if the cure for ocd is jesus why would he let you suffer like this >:D im sorry I have ocd too but really jesus ?

  • WOW NIHLATHAK, GO TO HELL.

  • Hey, if Jesus isn't real. Hell isn't real. Thumbs up for the retard.

-Christianity is a load of shit, and if any single person can get me to believe otherwise under reasonable experimental conditions, try me.

  • Well notice how 5 + 2 people dislikedyour comments and someone liked mine. YOU CAN BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT CHRISTRIANITY, BUT it IS NOT right at all TO POST THOSE HORRIBLE THINGS YOU ARE SAYING ON YOUTUBE. Seriously, get your brain out of your ass and just dont post shit like that on youtube. aint right. k bye. this discussion is OVER.

  • This video explained it superbly! Coming from someone who used to have OCD (with numbers, patterns, and order).

  • this isn't OCD,, this is insanity lols

  • This is OCD and many people go through his every day. Though, usually the thoughts happen quicker and are not so vocalised.

  • @Ashmaker0 no for me it can last longer

  • @Ashmaker0 ya this is kinda how my number thing got started though it just didn't feel right so I had to keep doing it or it would just eat away at me

  • no thats pretty much OCD, though the person wouldnt sit there and think to themselves for that long, that was just so you could understand the thought process

  • LMAO

0:56 " SHIT..." i thought this was educational.

  • Is this an educational video. or do you have OCD. My son is a checker of doors at home, car doors. and other Items!

  • Margaret, thanks for making this. The same thoughts go through mind. You're not crazy, and I'm not but it's almost like I dont' trust the reality of what I just did and have to do it over to clarify that it was done right.

Did I spell Margaret right? I know I did, but I just have to check the spelling again. NO, I'm just going to let that one go. but I know, 1/2 hour from now it will still be bugging me.....did I spell Margaret right?

  • I have made this video and I live through this all the time. You are right when you say that OCD people never question themselves, that we just do it or feel the need to do it. But for the making of this video I had to make the thoughts "outloud" to make it understandable for people who do not understand what people with OCD go through. Thanks for watching.

  • @margaretsen I question myself sometimes, but it doesn't stop me from still doing it. I dont like doing all of that, but I have no choice..Made it worse when I realized what I ws doing was compulsive. Now I over analyze everything, and that has become apart of it.

  • @margaretsen truley acurate wiith humor aswell, i have had ocd for 5 years now, ty for some comic relieef, plz make more

  • this is fucked up lol

  • This is exactly what I have to do, I could have been in this video. It's nothing to be ashamed of, I also have a compulsion to confess. I'm 43 now and I had to do things like this as far back as I can remember. Take care fellow sufferer's and know that you are not alone.

  • this has got to be what i have; like people thing ocd is clean freak or w/e but not always cause mine is more like hers. i know exactly what you mean.i hate it.

  • How is there a wrong way...........

  • it's the way it feels, like it's just got to be "right" in your head or else you think

something bad will happen or for whatever reason becuase i suffer from

a mild syndrom of this or so to believe.

  • i laughed when she said SHITTTT! i didnt expect it. I have ocd but i dont think like this in fact its just automatic for me im not thinking at all i just repeat certain things.

  • once you open'd the door once it's to late..

    just walk away next time..

    tell your self..

    "it's all in your head".

you mind is just playing games with you..

do that for about a week and see how it works out for you

  • i have ocd severe . Margetsen is right and i would love to sleep with her too!!!

  • I had a motorcycle that had a second gear that was worn and would pop back down into neutral. My motor would rev, my bike lost speed, and the traffic around me would almost run me over as I struggled to get back into gear and into third before it popped out again. My OCD is like that. The feeling that something is in place keeps popping out. I struggle to jam it back in place, but it pops out again before I can move on. And real life is going to run me over!

  • at 17 i suffer from this, luckily not as bad, but i still constantly worry about things, it might not be a fatal disease, but it's so impactful in so many bad ways, i hate it

  • And what about those that belive in science and not some cheap easy answers...

  • Sure, if it works for YOU, fine. But you need to understand not everyone is going to estatic about the idea of someone saying "Turn to a religion". Im happy believing we are all animals and life is what it is.

  • If you believe in science, tell OCD, hello my friend what I believe to be science won't let me get rid of you.

Science gets rid of some illnesses, Jesus name gets rid of bad spirits and charms and such. Simple like that.

  • Anyhow, I hope you'll get cured.

  • This is very much a stress-related disorder.

  • Comment removed

  • 3,7,9... they are the numbers i do or any number that is like made up of those numbers like 31, 79 or 93, but if they contain the same number as each other like 77 its wrong!

  • my favourite number is 3, but i usually do things 2, 4, 6, 8 times, you get the point... odd numbers give me a sensation of loneliness, i mean 2 is a pair, and if there are 3 things, it's wrong. the third one will be lonely. yeah i know... sounds crazy.

  • LUVOX

  • I found that to be VERY accurate. My favorite number is four, yet I do most things in threes. I don't know why.

  • How dare you. This is a mental illness. Caused by either past events or a chemical imbalance. You have no right in saying any of that.

  • I dare to tell you how I get cured even if you like it or not, and I do it because I suffered a lot and want others to be cured. Do it for 40 days and see.

  • loanRomania09 what if people can't just read it once? They feel the need to read it 4,7 or 11 times and they do it 4,7 or 11 times multiple times per day? If they do it 3 times throughout the course of a day then they have to do it once more because that will be 4, but if something happens they will have to read it again, but that would make 5 so they read 2 more times so they get to seven.. but they didn't feel they read it properly the 7th time so they read it 4 more times to get to 11........

  • Once will be enough.

  • Do also a full blood and urine analysis including urine with sediment to make sure your water or food is not contaminated. Do this analysis in 24 hours from crysis, if later the substances may exit body. Write down times of crysis and try to see where you ate and drink from.

Say it just once and try that under any conditions don't stop until you had finished reading it first time. Next times try stop.

If want more help search google for "florence arizona moanstery" and go visit to Father Ephraim

  • this video makes me laugh sort of..but that s true.3 used to be my fav number but because i think 0 is a number then i have to do 0 1 2 3 in total of 4.weird,isnt?

  • I have OCD. It's a bit like that with everything I do 0.0

  • I don't have the '3' problem but I have to make sure it feels like I did it right, cause i will think of so many things that will go wrong with i just walk away....it really does suck..

  • I dont count, but if I dont do something right the first time, I think someones going to get hurt because I did it 'wrong'

  • omg ik how u feel 3 is my #

  • Everything I do is in 3s.

I hate odd numbers except the number 3.

  • yep! me too! i hate every odd # except 3 i wonder y?

  • thats really weird i hate odd numbers accept 3 aswell and ive just realised that on some occasions i will accept the numbers 9, 15, 21, 27 and ive just realised there all in the three times table.. im strange

  • Everyone in this video is true. I feel like I count pretty much everyting I do. It gets so stressful.

  • Great Actingg!! It wud be so annoying if i had OCD i wouldnt be able to copee!!

  • Great acting. Amazingly realistic. Wow.

  • Very accurate description.Been there,done that,got the scars.

  • same here, cosutton =)

  • It's okay. Everything's gonna be alright. Just hang in there. I used to have ocd that was really bad too, but mine got better over time. Give it time, I'm pretty sure it will get better. Advice for now would be, try to force yourself to not listen to the thoughts. You can do it!
