Wish it REALLY were as easy getting the files to your PC! You look under their specific folder, which is not ALL that obvious, but you ca drop and drag them, then you need to rename them MPEG on the end, or you can't get them to associate like they should!

I bought this camera @ a pawn shop & was very disappointed so Im selling it. There are much better options for the same price. If you use Windows Movie Maker you will not be able to open your video files directly you will have to go through some other program to convert them. I was not willing to spend more money for software that I never needed with my other cameras. Anybody interested? There is nothing wrong with the camera it's just inconvenient!!

@jenkinman84 There are plenty of NON MS movie editors, and guess what?! You can get them free if you look on software sites offering freeware. It's regular Mpeg, just cut and paste from the camera's HDD to the computer HDD. It saves the process of even needing Movie Maker to begin with!

JVC sucks, seriously, I have this camera and is slow, and the format gives you tons of problems because doesn't work with mac , some other stuff like working in you editor software is so slow to see the previews, so I don't recommend it, i'm looking for something else, i like using tape so if you know a good camera tell me please I'll be grateful

At work I used a JVC deck to capture from/to my FCP program. But when I would go straight out of my JVC 300U via fire wire , at rare times the computer would just freeze up. I'm not a tech by any means. So I'd just reboot, gripe a little over my unsaved work, and move on. Has anybody else ever heard of conflicts between certain cameras and certain software programs such as FCP HD, or Express? Avid or Avid Express, Vegas Video, Adobe Premiere?

There is a good solution to the (...)ing format. Just click change name, and then change ".MOD" to ".MPG". This works! (At least with my camera).

I got video studio editor 11 for an editing program. Once you put your film together you can change the file into a wmv. for best quality and it will go on youtube. I had the same problem.

I installed this software and plugged in the USB to get the footage onto the software, but when i go to movie maker to import into collections and under everio camcorder there is a bunch of random files. From my experience with my unit (probably about this same as the one shown here, I'm sure), it's somewhere between 1 hr. to 1.5 hrs. No more than 2 hrs. for sure. If you want more time than that you'll have to buy a better battery for it.

The only downside to the camera is that if you want to upload to youtube, you have to downsize the files by ALOT!! And it takes quite a while.
