  • Tarkus is Keith's Best Work, and Rick Wakeman's is Catherine Parr (he did extremely well with Close To The Edge as well!)

  • After checking voluminous source material, Keith Emerson beats Rick Wakeman by 4¾ to 5 on the WMC > SPMS Musicians unofficial ratings scales. In other words, technically proficient players or folks who practice a lot, can actually hear the notes and clusters these guys are playing. When surveyed they preferred the Writing or adapting Music in a Creative way to the (often used) Scales & Practice Material played at high Speed approach.

But that's them. It's all personal preference so enjoy it!

  • What's the track at 8:55? It's some of the greatest keyboard playing ever, obviously, but I'm unfamiliar with the song.

  • @geffel Catherine Parr, The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Studio album by Rick Wakeman

    Released 23 January 1973

  • great music. great tecnicians

  • Keith is better than Rick!! In that world Wakeman is better than Emerson?? Technically there is not fight!!

  • @Nawtas007

In the world of 'it's a matter of personal opinion'.

  • think you have these the wrong way round buddy. keith at his height was a much more technically gifted all rounder than Rick (who I admire greatly). However this is purely my opinion.

  • @tarkus1232003

but if you like Wakeman more then he wins. It's opinion, bud. And let's face it, ELP have way more lame songs than Yes, regardless.
