  • very nice

  • @phillipkempo you r right

  • @phillipkempo Phillip, I don't care what anyone says, your videos are awesome. Keep up the great work!

  • Have you ever see somebody stand still so you can do all those flashy movements? The answer is No! If somebody stands there cuz he s been hit, then just box his hand out to knock him out!

  • Do you know of any good websites that state the history of this art? Or books?

  • Is this system the same as Chuan Fa Kung fu

  • Now are any of the blocks based off of the Chinese Lee Choy or Choy lae fut

  • @SeanbMA I suppose there must be similarities as both are southern styles, however I have never really looked at choy lee fut. ( but will look later). Our system Incorporates Pangainoon-ryu & Chau Gar. Matayoshi kubudo is also taught

  • Who was your teacher?

  • @SeanbMA My Instructor is Mike James from Wales in the UK.

  • Some of the strikes seem to be unneccessary

the attacker is standing still when the teacher hits him so a neck punch a face punch is harldy going to be countetred as the attacker won't be in

the same position after a punch

  • i think he kicked him in the balls in the last demonstration hahaha

  • im a black belt in shaolin kempo karate!

  • im guessing the strike is a quick counter and designed to simply beat a left cross via offense

  • what type of Karate is this..I know it says Kempo but is this anything like Ed Parkers Kenpo or is this more Okinawan?

  • @anthonysmith73 Hi anthony, the system is based on Okinawan Kempo

  • I can't wait to find a school for this,,, gotta learn Kempo,,, this is the type of self defence I would enjoy,, its mostly upper body

  • I wonder what would happen if the attacker thru a left cross after that straight right, instead of hanging his arm down.

  • @rchapel Thank you for your comment Mr Chapel, the reason the attacker drops his left arm is to protect his groin as he is not sure of what counter I am going to deliver, so just to be on the safe side. However, if the left cross was thrown i would have to deal with it. there are numerous counters i could use as is demonstrated in later clips.

  • @phillipkempo Brilliant demonstration , well done I love the take downs

which I find is lacking in Ed Parkers Kenpo

  • @paulus837 Dear Paulus, the techniques of kenpo should result in the attacker falling down. Re examine your approach and targeting to review the effects of the attack and see if the response shouldn't result in a knock out or a disabling result to a supporting leg. The drag up buckles are another variation of a possible balance disruption. And finally Form 5 of Kenpo is all about takedowns. You only have to 'peel the onion' of each technique to discover greater depths in your kenpo journey

  • @onetao8 you would be right except if someone were to practice this and learn just muscle memory you can apply it to any sitaution and of course you like all that mma shit it's a fad. another follower i see....

  • Kempo is such a powerful flow-a-tion of movement. It's the reason why it's such a effective scientific art.

  • Interesting videos. Keep up the good work.

Hope you will stop by our page as well.

    Thanks

  • bon c'est bien beau les techniques , sa a l'air de bien fonctionner contre un adversaire immobile...

  • very fluid and graceful. Is this an older form than the IKKA?

  • Practice has one purpose, preparation for the real life.I could only say that kempo, ninjutsu and military combat training saved my life during the war. I served in special forces, border rapid response unit and as an officer i had to select guy's who were capable to survive and everything comes to mental aspect, it is very important how much are you going to train and that you don't freeze when it comes to real deal.Mental aspect of training is the most important, everything else is polishing.

  • martial arts depends on the heart

if you got the vibes despiting all Technics

    you win.

i dont mean that ppl shouldn't train, no no

you should train forever, but remember that the brave hearted one wins

  • I think you guys need to wise up. MMA is a form of entertainment. Someone who is trained specifically for hard core self defense, is not interested in putting on a show. I've taken martial arts my entire life. I have not been trained to put on a show. I've been trained to take you out. Quick and clean. Trust me. You mess with someone who knows martial arts, it's not a show. Before you know what hit you ... your done. I've see the biggest guys go down quicker than you can blink.

  • If you watch closely you see strikes to the eyes and groin, suggesting that this isn't a sport like mma or full contact fighting. This is for self defence where once proficient you would improve you chances of surviving a sreet encounter by using what you call 'prememorized' techniques.

  • I do see eye and throat strikes. I also took seminars in kempo karate when I studied Kung Fu years ago. But these techniques promote poor habbits. If you look at some actual fighting/sparring with kempo, you'll see the kempo guys quickly change to what looks like poor boxing. I just Kempo guys practicing BJJ. MMA is a sport, but because it's full contact wiht minimal rules, it actually gets you better conditioned for a street altercation. The eye gauging techniques anyone can pick up.

  • @edjake13 I think the point MA was making is can these guys pull this stuff off under pressure? how can you tell? well, if you are willing put on gloves and protection and go at. When you actually apply force, then you'll see that some of these techniques are very inefficient. Also, another thing i believe MA was saying is that fighting is more dynamic than one-step sparring. So these guys work off of full compliance-- when they get a real, resisting opponent, then again, technique goes out

  • I can see what you and MA are saying and it's a fair point, but these techniques are aimed at defending against an attack, where somebody strikes at you and you hopefully block and counter, with combinations added depending on the skill of the attacker. In a fight you probably wouldn't attempt a lengthy combination, I'm not arguing with that, but there is a difference between an attack and a fight and and often an attack doesn't have a chance to a become a fight unless initially defended.

  • @edjake13 And if you watch closely you can see that he is dropping his guard and that is a bad move for both self defense and MMA. And would the guy just stand there and do nothing? No, he wouldn't.

  • Where's the sound?

  • I would disagree with your statement. If anything the "art" behind Kempo and asian martial arts in general is the area in which they are far superior to other cultures martial traditions.

As far as the "street fighting" potential of Kempo, that's debatable. For sure, if all the student does is memorize and practice these technique sets, then they probably won't be effective in a fight.

  • This art is similar to Ninpo Tai jutsu, look at their punches! no one punches like that! this thing will get you killed in the street! I studied Ninpo, realized its bullshit! I would perfer Sambo with some Japanese Jujitsu and Muthai.

  • haha you obviously don't know about how to generate power. I could blow you back with a palm strike from 3 inch's away. Why? because I know how to and can generate short distance power. theres many more ways to generate power than just stepping in. General rule of thumb, more spin = more torque = more power. Also power isnt everything in striking, i could flick you in the throat with a finger and it would still hurt, why? cause its a weak point on the body.

  • you know, you hardly see good flow from a master, but man, you are awesome!!!

the instruction is nice and slow, then speed up to see how the real time flow comes in!

Again, let me know if you ever come to san diego, california!!!

    Your students are all blessed!!!

  • If you watch closely you will see his stance will give power if required, maybe not as much power as a classic old reverse punch or ''gyaku zuki' as Karate folks call it, but what you gain in power you often lose in speed. As all his strikes are placed with accuracy he will obviously do severe damage to several key areas whilst you are still doing your first punch. Basically, GreatestRockyFan, you would be dropped like a sack of shit!

  • The irony is that kempo guys (and many other martial artists of course) have all these theories. But when push comes to shove and the fight or by some chance are brave enough to compete in a full contact arena, they all look (no matter what degree black belt) like bad boxers and terrible grapplers. The smart ones would cross train and become real fighters. The delusional will lie to themselves about being deadly and keep training in fairy tale land.

  • @MAfanatic you make a lot of sense but no one is listening.

  • yes, and your opponent will stay without moving, waiting to accomplish the combo

  • I would have done the same thing

  • An old friend of mine, who studied kempoe, once told me that a friend of his once one-hitted a guy KO in a bar cos he whas touching his GF xD

too bad he got in trouble with it, cos youre obviously not allowed to use these dangerous techniques on an untrained person.

  • Comment removed

  • I would leave the eye poke out of the second combo you do. Realistically you probably wont have the accuracy to pull it off after the guy has already been hit 3 times

  • Looks to me like he has the accuracy, but even if he hasn't, four fingers thrust in the region of the eyes will force the opponent to expose his throat ready for the following strike.

  • It's nice to see a system that definately isn't a sport. This looks to be for survival, not scoring points. Thanks for posting.

  • Great moves each one flowing into the other.

  • it is nice and good to see that he blocks counter simultanously

  • TOO MANY MOVES..........life and death......finish it and get the hell outta there

  • wow 0:13 is my favorite part.

to me it feels like application of memorization in order to chain techniques.

    kempo is pretty cool!

  • es una variante de 5 espadas nada del otro mundo

  • THANKS for the video.. nice way to practice!

  • This vids Awesome thanks for posting.

  • OOOOWW SUGOI!!!

This video remember me a movie Perfect Weapon with Jeff Speakman

  • Jeff Speakman is a black belt in kenpo karate. He even has his own set up his own instructional dvds.

  • Thank you
