Who konws why the crane is swinging the other way, it could be that the craine needs to make a few manuvers before it can place the animal back in the tank. Also they could be putting it back into one of the two back tanks instead of the main one. When releaseing an animal from a sling you need to do it in shallow water not deep. There are a few exceptions but not many.

I hightly doubt it was trying to escape, it was already trying to get at the trainer who was infront of it 2 vids before. And anyone pro-captive or aniti-captive are extreamly arrogant to assume they know what the animal was thinking when it did this. No one can know the animal's motivation but the animal itself. The dolphin did not die. I work with dolphins and personaly know one who survived far worse than just this.

The mats, to those who were wondering, are most likely being used to supply water/moisture to the dolphin's skin so that it wouldn't dry out completely. As for the crane, don't asume that it is dead. If it were still living placing it directly back in the water could be extremely harmful. If it is living, it is most likely being transported to another tank where it can be monitored and given a health check to make sure it wasn't injured in the fall. The racism on here is disgusting and shameful.
