i havent even played half life except for the play station version or even seen gameplay for opposing force, and just listening to the soundtrack gets my adrenaline going and my hands sweaty and the song all in its own describes to you what shepherd is going through at the time. his hearts pumping hes got adrenaline going his hands sweaty and his trigger finger itchy waiting for an enemy to pop within his line of sight to blast it away as he tries to make his way to his comrades.

the combine are rouge, no commanders, no leaders, they are all just squads.

They won't get captured by the combine, because they are perfectly safe inside the base.

When it hit gordon and alyx' train, they survived because of gman.

Which means everything that big blue explosion touched really DID destory everything.

Gman just kept gordon and alyx alive to continue the story.

You see how alyx and gordon survived half life 2's explosion?

That was the vorts.

Barney was well out of harms way when it happened.

So yeah... Barney's dead.. Sad story.
