Wow, that was amazing. Tremendous technical and physical prowess. And to see the joy in his face though out, especially at the end was very heartening. Thank you for posting, and sharing this.
Sooo beautiful! I hoop dance, but .. it's a hula hoop lol, big one. I think this kind of hoop dancing is so gorgeous, and the music is absolutely awesome. <3
Keven I used to dance with you at hunter mountain NY you always amaze me, love watching you your the best. Im now a lead sinner for mother earth drum and singers
Some of the tribes, don't know about this one, had to take on anglicized names at the turn of the century. I know because the person at the cultural center in Riverside, CA was trying to trace his family. Not all were still living on the reservation, he was one of them. I had a background in geneology. The government forced them to change their native names.
I find it odd watching this very Native American dance knowing that his name is Kevin.
Also - I saw a ring dancer in Utah seven or so years ago who spun so fast that he came out as simply a colorful blur in everyone pictures - but he only used 5 rings, not 28.

whatever Kevin, still performing!!! Dont mistaken his performance with character, He has no character. He is mean, hateful, and spiteful person. Puts on a great show though. In his home community we all know this. When I was a kid admired him until I was at his home, now I have no respect for him
I had the chance to see Kevin Locke in person. The video quality sucked...you have to be there to appreciate this dance. Kevin Locke is an amazing man, and keeps his heritage alive!

This is retarded. Only a 5-year old would be mesmerized by this crap. Or maybe it's impressive for a Native American in a rain dance ritual, high on peyote.
This takes zero talent. A trained monkey can jump around in circles covered in hoops. No, seriously. If you want to see real talent with hula hoops, do a youtube search on elena lev, hoopalicious, or any number of real hoopers.
PS: even the video quality sucks. It stops at 4:02 and the sound cuts out for the rest of it.
The word YOGA is derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj", i "to yoke" [to the spirit] meaning "union of the Individual Soul (Atman) with the Universal Soul (Brahman). Yoga embraces a wide range of disciplines whose ultimate goal is the joining of body, mind and spirit, a conscious unification into Oneness. Kevin brings us closer to the Oneness.
He gave me my Indian name, lovely.
