@limtc Thanks, I appreciate it. I just don't want to do exactly the same kind of thing again with the video, so I have to think of something to do while I sing it.
@limtc Haha really? Thanks. I'm going to do a Portal 2 song too, but I have to figure out what would make it visually interesting. I've already recorded the song. :)
Just played the first game through, and sweet heseuss is it a fun little gauntlet. Quite a contrast to all the gritty violence and fantasy related games I've run across. And now I get the context far better. And yep, your voice is pretty much a carbon(if less so) copy of GLaDOS's :)
GLaDOS is an AI at "Aperture Science labs", which is running tests on a prototype Portal Gun, a device that fires a set of Black Holes which can be teleported between. GLaDOS grows increasingly deceitful and violent to its test subject Chell, and after several attempts on her life under the guise of tests, she eventually manages to reach and destroy the computer controlling GLaDOS and escape the lab. Then at the end the song plays, revealing it's... 'Still Alive'...
@HHog Yes, before I sang the song I looked up what I might need to know about GLaDOS and watched quite a few versions of her hilarious dialogue and the end battle scene from a few different perspectives. I just have not played the game and know nothing about the game play.
That was a rather uncanny likeness of the original "GLaDOS" voice!
Very well done, and it's fun to see how not knowing the context of the song at all doesn't deter you from performing it anyway. =)
If you're at all driven to know the context without playing the game yourself, I'll post the plot in a nutshell in another comment so you can get the basic gist of it, at least. If you don't care to know it, then go right ahead and ignore said comment, haha. =P
Not familiar with the song but I can see why you sang it. Taunting lyrics. I like how you are posed so symmetrical. and the crop ...and all the effects. ...and when you were burning you were actually becoming golden. ...that'll teach 'em, hahaha. Nice production. As always you add lots of great touches. Intended or not, loved that last split moment when your eyes shut.
@woodsprout Thanks, glad you liked it. I'm not sure what it means to be "posed symmetrical," but I did try to be centrally located and tried not to move. :) I did intend for the eyes-closing bit at the end, so I'm glad you appreciated it.
It's very strange. Earlier today, i looked up several American Sign Language versions of this song, and then I found you by looking for some things about asexuality. Then, lo and behold, i find this song on your channel. You probably don't even care, but I thought that was a crazy weird happenstance.
@xXRoBeRtXHaYdNXx Wow! What a crazy random happenstance! :) Yeah, coincidence is a very strange thing sometimes. I hope you enjoyed it even though you found it while looking for other things. :)
@swankivy Don't worry; i definitely enjoyed it! One question... was that a dr. horrible's sing-along blog reference or were you just going along with what I said? i dunno. maybe i'm overthinking things.
@xXRoBeRtXHaYdNXx Yeah, that was totally a Dr. Horrible reference. (What you said made me think of it, 'cause it was very close.) I have performed the song "My Eyes" from Dr. Horrible, but not on YouTube.
@swankivy Awesome! It's nice to know that there are other people who think like me. (Is that a creepy thing to say?) also, another (possibly offensive) comment. It's nice to see that you can enjoy a movie with lot's of sex jokes. The only other asexual person I've known in real life was like one of those annoying straight-edge idiots who complain every time someone makes a joke about drugs (except for sex). She would always complain whenever someone made a sex joke or something.
@xXRoBeRtXHaYdNXx It's always a pleasant surprise, when one thinks in an unusual way, to find out that someone else does the same. :) In defense of the squicked asexual, I'd say there are sexual people who are put off by sex jokes too . . . just so happens that actually most asexuals have a live-and-let-live attitude about sex, as long as someone isn't trying to make it involve them. Some people do it to get attention, too--objecting just to draw attention to their supposed purity, I guess.
@xXRoBeRtXHaYdNXx Oh, and I'm always running out of characters when I'm trying to type on YouTube. Maybe one day I'll try "My Eyes" on YouTube, but for now I just have a recording of it on my website. I actually have a small section where people can download my half of a duet and sing with me.
@swankivy Yeah. Exactly. That's kind of the attitude I have about it. "I don't care about sex as long as I'm not a part of it." Anyways, I've been on your site for about an hour now, and it is thoroughly awesome! I especially enjoyed the religion page. Being an atheist, I like hearing about other people's beliefs. It was also refreshing to read the part about how "Even if spells just calm me down and there's no other effect, it still helps" you seem very open-minded, and that's a good way to be.
@xXRoBeRtXHaYdNXx Cool, thanks for checking out the site. I'm basically an atheist myself (since I don't believe in any conscious gods), but my study of Paganism has left me with some respect for folk traditions. I just don't like when they lead people to believe things that don't actually reflect reality. My site probably exists more for other people's reference than my own, now, but I made it more than ten years ago. :)
@RandomDisinformation Neat, thank you. I haven't played of course but I went and looked at some videos about it so I could hear some of the funny dialogue. GLaDOS is kinda creepy.
@swankivy No no, you still have to look at my book, which I'm about to send. lol But seriously if you ever died before I did I'd have to resurrect you. And that would require buying a plane ticket, a shovel, a dark magic book, eye of newt, and just messy messy business. Plus you'd come back all evil or something probably.
Wow, your voice is soooo similar! I think it might be a little softer and less robotic (thankfully lol) but totally awesome and so close the original it's insane lol
Good job! My ears aren't bleeding, so that is usually a plus.

Have you considered doing a short film as Caroline from the game? The portal community might be receptive to the idea.:)
