If I had been on that US Military helicopter, I wouldn't have obeyed the order to go back. I don't care if I had gotten in trouble for disobiedience. All I know is that if I had family/friends amid the passengers/crew, I would want somebody to do everything in their power to try and see if they were alive.
3. Every year, the families of the victims climb the mountain on the memorial day. Every year, the number of the group becomes smaller and smaller, becuase they become too old to climb the mountain.
FYI the crash site is: 36 00 05 19N and 138 41 38 16E
2. The JN pilot who damaged the tail originally committed a suicide. I heard that two Boeing workers also committed suicides, but I didn't hear that while I was in Japan. The JN investigators were upset because Boeing admitted the mistake before the investigation was done. Of course they could have saved more lives if they could reach the victims. There was a woman who went missing on Cascades a few days ago. They stopped searching her as soon as it was too dark.
I was in Yokohama when this crash happened. I found out about this while watching a JN TV that showed burning flames in a pitch darkness. Yokota would never broadcast anything directly to Japanese TV, because there are many JN who think the US Military in Japan is causing these accidents.
The Osutakayama mountain area is very steep with tall trees and no access road. At a dawn, JN army helicopter flew personnel to build a helipad near the crash site, while others built an access trail.
It’s pretty amazing that anyone survived the crash at all but it is nothing short of criminal that they didn't get emergency services there more quickly and attempt a rescue at night. A lot of people who might have survived this accident succumbed to hypothermia and injuries from the crash because they delayed the rescue. Additionally, the US military didn’t attempt a rescue, despite being in a position to do so, because the Japanese government didn’t want them involved.
OH GOD!!!!
