If you have at least 7 energy tanks and you turn off the Varia and Gravity Suits (or don't have them at all) then even when the big Metroid joins you can still stand up and fire and all of that, allowing you to do extra damage before hand and it even obsoletes the Murder Beam. This is called the Stand-Up glitch. Let's see what happens if you combine it with the Murder Beam, a Hyper Beam cheat and an Ultra-Rapid-Fire cheat.

The Murder beam, i think was a cut out beam called the Varia beam or something. since it has the prefix "Var" or maybe the hyper beam was to replace it. I really don't know, let me know if the murder beam gives you any ideas about what it was before.

Question 1: Why does the metroid not COMPLETELY drain mother brain of all of her energy? Unless mother brain just regenerates willy-nilly even when she dies...Question 2: Am I the only one who mourned the hell out of Crocomire and the Metroid when they died? I mean, Crocomire just got dropped into acid and his flesh incinerated in the burning chemicals as you watched him attempt to jump for his life...And the damn Metroid saves your life and basically sees you as a mother. It's all Bullcrap!! XD

@ZeekZerinth In the metroid manga, it says that her body is mechanical. The metroid sucked the life of the biologic part, but the body probably resurrected the rest. She lost her brain beam though.

As for number 2...yeah it's a creepy death, and it's sad for the baby metroid, but drama is drama, and it works wonders.

@ZeekZerinth actually, Mother Brain has a secret life-regenerating power which is why she came back to life after dealing with the Metroid. At least that's what I read on the Metroid wiki.

@ZeekZerinth It's true. Mother brain has the power to regenerate. However once her actual body is destroyed, she loses that ability. Technically Samus destroyes the head a couple of times, but Mother Brain being the bitch she is doesn't show her true body until this battle, which is ironic because if she had done it the first time she could have killed Samus and lived forever. But the Metroid drained all her life force and gave it to Samus. Samus' hyper beam is actually regeneration's negative.

I don't get why the uncharged shot freezes the game but the charge shot does...?

Because there's no sprite in the game for firing the Spazer and Plasma beams at the same time, which makes the game crash. Charged shots will also freeze the game if you don't fire straight left or point blank into a wall.

That (murder beam) was created by the game designers as a debug menu because you can use it at certain doors in the game and take the game to the beginning or the end.

Are you sure you fired a charged shot straight to the left? If you fire an uncharged shot or fire in any other direction it will freeze the game.

And you can also use the Murder Beam against Ridley.

to do a secret attack equip charge and only one other beam (like charge and plasma, or charge and ice) equip power bomb (dont go into morph ball) and charge beam and "wallah" there you go! each other beam will have diff attacks and effects.
