A lot of the un-real waves around the globe are being surfed because of bodyboarders - looking for waves where they weren't getting shit from stand-ups with egos bigger than skills.
I surfed real big Punto de Lobos in Chile a few years back- I was the only sponger out there. All the bullshit goes out the window in big waves. Only when I got back on dry land after did all the mouths start flapping about stand-up/laying-down surfing. And surprise surprises, none of the ones doing the flapping were out surfing that day.
the bodyboarders always seem to get deeper in the big waves while the surfers often ride them out on the shoulder.

@Jugnoobs That's right! The point is the WAVE. I enjoy the waves using surf and bodyboardings. I'm thinking about to buy a longboard also and trip in all those classic moves. When I was 12 to 16 y/o I used to go to the beach with a surfboard and a BB... the funniest thing is that I made more enemies (ignorants from both sides) than friends...

@Jugnoobs No, big wave riding is about how much you can challenge yourself. If you want to enter the big wave arena with surfers who are taking the ultimate challenge (getting to their feet on a huge wave) then you should be ready to take shit for only challenging yourself to lay on your belly. If you just want to have fun then go flop around on some shore break that's not worthy of a surfers attention.

@billywillgo First off your an idiot. Surfers who get towed in don't have to "get to their feet". They are strapped in and getting into the wave before it gets critical. They just pick a line and stick with it. Bodyboarding should be allowed into the big wave competitions because they are braving he same elements as the surfers. Just surfers think they are so much "better" because they stand up. Both sports take massive balls at the level these guys are at, and both deserve equal respect.

I surfed real big Punto de Lobos in Chile a few years back- I was the only sponger out there. All the bullshit goes out the window in big waves. Only when I got back on dry land after did all the mouths start flapping about stand-up/laying-down surfing. And surprise surprises, none of the ones doing the flapping were out surfing that day.
