How to survive the bosses? well, theres a strategy to each and every boss, and things in this game arent as dependant on level as most people think. I've attempted that one myself, but I pretty much gave up close to the end of disc 1, guess I was tired of FF IX after already beating it at lvl 1, and also didnt see the point in getting that sword in exchange for screwing up everything else in the game (which you pretty much do by rushing it). I didn't know there were ways of passing about 99% of the game WITHOUT LEVELING UP. This whole thing about level 1 and low level things sounds like a lot of luck and a lot of skipping stuff.

Skipping stuff? I wouldn't really say I had the feeling of skipping anything really, but then again, this was not my first playthrough of the game, and I advise all of them who are going for their first playthrough to do it the normal way.
No, because that would be impossible. Getting excalibur II requires you to rush through the game real fast, and staying level 1 requires to use alot of time getting some abilities and stuff, so those two challenges cannot be combined.

Abilites can be gained by petrifying enemies. This earns you AP but no exp. :)

You can go for some chocobo's treasures here ;)
For the two forced fights against BMage A, you have to petrify them thanks to the Needle Fork (a petrified enemy give no EXP) but it's damn HARSH
Giza : kill Quina > save > revive until she have 1 hp > use limit glove > OHKO
Beatrix : she completely sucks here but if you have trouble (lol) you can use the same tactics ;)
