Iona is the little souvenir of a terrible year.Love you now and always my love.My daughter, my angel, my blue eyed love.I held you first in my arms when you were born.andi will love you always.
Yeah, they don't make music like they used to anymore. Today's so-called talent consists of making people that can't sing sound like robots that can't sing!
Picked up Reading, Writing and Arithmetic the day it was released and played the shit out of the album! Still find The Sundays music meaningful after all these years! Terrific stuff!
People should be made to listen to this song for punishment. Too bad we no longer have public stockades. If we did, we could lock this group in them and throw rotten fruit and vegetables at them.
@RealDaytonDeals yeah it's a girl song--kinda like stay by lisa loeb or lovefool by cardigans--so u'll either think it's pretty or pretty horrible (dep. on taste)
Of course I heard this first on KROQ but now they've moved on to all the new bands. At least they still announce artists & Tracks so you can buy a cd like this one and capture the essence of a moment or era.
a Gem...i was 16 years old when this song came out. Everyone was so original and unique in their own Beautiful Ways, Thus, The Sundays...a beautiful voice and sound.
2000 decade is probably the worst decade of all time. People like to think that it wasn't that bad compared to the 40's or 60's where there was alot of violence, but the 2000's was culturally void and dead, a dystopia not akin to 1984 but more like "a brave new world". Everyone was just shallow and dead inside, it was a decade of true narcissism and mediocrity and it still persists.
what a great song...i cant believe she doesnt have another hit...with a voice like that it should be easy for them to make more hits...song rocks tho....
Can anyone help me out here? I am trying to find a lesson or tablature for this song. The tabs online and the one lesson I have seen on youtube are not correct. I know the two chords for the verses of this song but I don't know how to play the chorus part ["It's that little souvenir of a terrible year"] The tabs online are over simplified versions of the song. Any help woud be appreciated
I had this CD back in the day... when I left the ex-boyfriend I left him all my CDs... now I don't miss them, but I do miss the music... So thank you for uploading this!! (short story long, LOL)
@wasabiluver Don't feel so bad about losing your CDs to an ex-bf. At least your car wasn't broken into, your CD stolen plus 25 others of the same genre in a case, along with your six-month-old new CD car stereo. The only consolation being, no windows were broken and the thieves considerate enough to leave a Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg CD to bake on the dash :-/
Funny ... il was just thinking listening to the beginning of the song that i didn't have the CD anymore... It was one of those i left my ex-ex girlfriend...
there is always amazing music being made, in some decades its harder to find. but if you look hard enough now there are records that will kill you. just like there were in the 00s, 90s, 80s etc
damn! i miss the 80 's really bad !!! i just wish i could travel back in time to enjoy my youth one time! this song really brings back a lot of happy memories.
@chicane620 wow, you're lucky. I didn't get into them until 2002. I found a copy of Blind in a used bookstore(I had a memory from the early 90's of someone saying how good they were) and have been hooked ever since.
Reading, writing and arithmatic was released on January 15 1990, so they were performing "Heres where the story ends" in the 80's, recorded in the 80's, definitley written in the 80's as it was released in Australia in 89, and was a U.S. promo in 89, but I don't think the decade is really important. @BeWaTer99 hahaha no this the 2000's just had shitty music overall. There are some good bands but none compared to bands of the decades before it and music took a serious step backwards during the last decade and I know plenty about 2000's music and music in general. One I can compose music and two I grew up with crappy ass 2000's music. But i'm glad that you were able to add an intelligent and articulate point of view to my old ass comment. Good job, Bewater.
It's all a matter of knowing where to look at. I still know plenty of great bands in the 00's... there's not such a thing like "bad decade" regarding music.
Uh have you turned on your radio? But I guess I should be more clear since some people's brains can't seem to understand that i'm referring to "Mainstream" music and what the majority of people are into. Duh you can always find good bands if you look for them! But in the other decades you didn't really have to look as hard. So as far as music goes last decade was still crap in my book. I totally agree with you Numberoneblind about this wasteful music today. I hate it! it freaking sucks ass. Where has all the memorible music that touches your soul went???
@Starletdempsy I dunno but i'm being hopeful. It's kind of a general consensus between alot of people that today's music is really lacking and usually when that happens we get an uprising of artists that try to bring that back so i'm hoping that that happens within this decade. i'm crossing my fingers for it!
Oh I see, you live in Europe which means the music is on a level different from the U.S. The American music has been very bad so far in the mainstream. Indie is a different story here in the states.
@BeWaTer99 Yeah it has been bad. I like alot of 90's music and that got me through my teens in the mid 2000's but now I still find myself either listening to 90's music or trying very hard to find something from the last decade. I just wish that I could have a current artist excites me as much as the sundays or any other 90's band did. I'm hoping that eventually record companies start promoting good artists again.
@Numberoneblind You are wrong the 2000's had Spoon KTML, Radiohead's kid A, Funeral by Arcade Fire, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot from Wilco, The National, The 88, Animal Collective, and tons more you just have to look for it now because the radio sucks.
@CaptinPenguin I can't be any more wrong than you can be right...music is after all subjective. I simply prefer 90's music. A lot of 2000's band are just lacking in my opinion. Some are good but they just don't have the same songwriting style of 90's bands. Arcade Fire is great though I have to say. I look for a good portion of my music though seeing as I didn't really listen to 90's music IN the 90's.
@CaptinPenguin I agree with Captin Penguin! There is also Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine, Grizzly Bear, Akron/Family, Langhorne Slim, Old Crow Medicine Show, Clap your Hands Say Yeah, godspeed you black emperor, Belle and Sebastian (their early stuff), First Aid Kit, Thievery Corporation, Blown Load, The Unknown Hinson, Gogol Bordello, The World of Skin, Elvis Perkins, Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, The Dead Weather, The White Stripes, Mason Jennings, And I'm just getting started!!!! too many!!!
@Numberoneblind So many people think the generation they live in sucks musically . . . but as time passes . . . and the shitty music is filtered away, leaving us with a higher percentage of good music, the sentiment usually changes. I can tell you right now, that there are countless amazing bands out there right now that many people never hear about because they are so fixated on main stream media. Akron/Family, The Avett Brothers, Angels of Light, Wolf Mother, MGMT (their first album), etc ...
@Numberoneblind unless if metal counts, then black metal and death metal gained mainstream acceptance take opeth and lamb of god, they are metal but do not sound alike
